I'd imagine this to be the best WotLK meta gem for Protection Paladins. While the Powerful Earthsiege Diamond is nice, Protadins can still do damage while stunned since we generally have Consecration running and generating threat. However a Protadin can't do anything at all if it's silenced, and thus I think this meta would be superior to the Powerful Earthsiege Diamond. We won't get increased resistance to being silenced, but we won't be silenced as long when we do. Ofcourse, it also depends on if you need additional threat/damage, or if you need extra hitpoints.

Anyone know if this stacks with talents, i.e. the Shaman talent called Focused Mind?

This could be an alternative palatanking gem. Pala spells use both AP and spell power, and tankadins can't tank while silenced. This gem would give a bit more time to taunt/use other spells. There is better tanking gems with stats and defence rating and increased BV or 32 sta and less magic dmg taken/stun duration reduce, which benefits best for tanking, even while silenced. I wouldn't take this gem for my tankadin, but maybe someone will? :P
