Capture and return? Funny that the game ends at 3 captured flags. I must be missing something.

To kenny447, i dunno if you did a mistake, but it isn't 9 flags over many battles.

To Xanker, capture is like you said, capped at 3 per game, but you can return your own flag as many times as you want, as long as the opposite faction takes your flag. Therefore, you could get this achievement very easy if you have a friend on the opposite faction who could take your flag, then drop it and let you "return" it nine times.

Just got this achievement(legit) after some trial and error on exactly the best way to do it.

Firstly, it DOES take the right team to be going against, i.e. a team chain pulling flags with solo flag carriers or with minimal support. Naturally this means if there are no Supporters for the flag carrier, the other team is either;

A) Turtling.
or
B) Camping your team.

Assuming A), it helps to ask nicely for help on "D" (Returning flags), pref from a stealth class who lets the opposing team grab the flag BEFORE opening, and can then safely put him down and let you return the flag.

The Majority of your 9/9 will be from returns, but the achievement does read capture AND return, and thankfully since the opposing team was turtling i simply used my personal class abilities to make like a bandit out with it (Fellow Mages - Simply go Invisible and stand directly on the flag. Wait for distractions and then grab Flag-Blink towards the door(Near the powerup)), pop MI quickly((With the pvp glove bonus)), cast RoF on the doorway and force a FFOrb on the outer Wall to cover anyone chasing you - and VOILA - You beat the turtle.)

Its also helpful as Horde(Because Alliance LOVE their Water exit) To sit on the side perch and just freecast into them, breaking Elixirs/levitate/Water Walking and making the flag carriers flounder in front of you.

Additional tips:

For returning flags, Make sure you orient your camera horizontally, so you avoid mis-clicking the Flag carriers corpse instead of the flag.

Make friends with a rogue or feral druid to help lock down the fc so you can dispatch him quickly, and also ensure that the flag carriers actually are allowed to get the flags.

DONT BE DISCOURAGED - It takes an opponent DOGGEDLY running into your base repeatedly pulling flags for you...eventually you'll find THAT guy :P

I'm getting the same behaviour as Ragthorne, the counter resets as soon as I return or capture a flag in the next BG, even if I let the BG time out before. :\

It seems this has been fixed in 4.3. I tried waiting for the two minutes after the game was over but my counter was reseted back to zero after I got out.

As of 6/12/2012, this is still possible to glitch; I completed this achievement in 3 games, returning 8 flags and capping 1 flag (that 1 flag was capped in the first game, so I'm assuming that the first game you can cap as many flags as you like without resetting the counter, though capping in the second or third game may revert the counter).

Simply hitting Alt + F4 after the game ended and the scoreboard came up, then waiting 5 mins or so to reload WoW was enough to have this done in less than an hour.

Doing this right now with a group of 15 queuing with Preform AV Enabler... and we've got a few people keeping their numbers with the ALT F4 method. One of them did cap a flag, but she only capped a flag one game, then ALT F4'd, came back and returned flags, it didn't reset with a cap but stay on the side of caution and do not cap a flag.

1. Get your recaps - as many as you can.
2. ALT F4 at the summery screen, DO NOT EXIT THE BATTLEGROUND
3. Stay logged off for approx. 2 minutes.
4. Log on, queue again - rinse - repeat.

I would avoid capping the flag unless it's the last cap you need.

GL - Vote this up until there's a fix - ps, waiting IN GAME and letting the BG time out does NOT work.

Bug confirmed still working as of 17/9/2012 patch 5.0.4.
Just Alt-F4 out at the end of every BG, log back in after 2mins and the counter should still carry on.

Still works as of 5.2, alt/f4'd at the very end of the match and came back about 4 minutes later, joined up and counter was still showing 5 from my previous battle. Soon as it started, didn't reset and I got my other 4!

So, my Death Knight did this achievement a few weeks ago. Pretty easy to do (if you use the bug) else it can be hard.
1. Join a Twin Peaks battleground.
2. Try to return as many flags you can
3. When the battleground is done press Alt + F4.
Note: if you press , the achievement will be reseted! So do NOT press it.

Wait atleast 2 minutes and then you just login like you normally do, Queue for Twin Peaks and repeat this untill you have Cloud Nine. It will NOT reset.

- The achievement says to return AND capture atleast 9 flags. But you can also only return nine flags
- If you capture flags but you don't return any flag and you use the ALT+F4 trick, then know it will reset.
- When the EFC is almost dead, be ready to spam click.
- The bug is still not fixed! So if you need it, get it now! (5.3)
- A fact is that without the bug this achievement is one of the hardest achievements you can get in battlegrounds

This achievement is insane.
I completed all other achievments from "Twin Peaks" and played easily more than 200 games (at a win rate slightly lower than 50% - I´m on ally site^^).
I Never saw anyone getting this achievment during these 200+ games - at least not by collecting 9 flags within one game.
I noticed only few games where one site had 9 or more flags returned in total, so to speak where this achievement would have been possible in theory.
Probably most of the players who have this achievement were lucky enough to use the bug that once existed (not leaving the game, but simply waiting until it is closed - the counter did not reset at that time).
I heard of bg´s were ally and horde site simply arranged by taking the flag and dropping it over and over again until everyone had this achievement.....

As of today (04.04.2014) the alt+f4 bug is still available. I did it in 3 separate games, after game ends and you see scoreboard alt+f4 and log back in after 2-3 minutes. Repeat while needed :)

As of 5.4.8, the Alt-F4 trick still works. While doing randoms earlier, I came across a TP where I capped all 3 flags for my team. I had previously read about the Alt-F4 trick for this achieve, so I decided to try it (do NOT click the button to leave the battleground, Alt-F4 instead, then wait 2-3 minutes before logging back in). As a Disc healer, it took me 8 total games to get this achieve, with 10 flag caps across those games:

Game 1: 3 caps, win
Game 2: 0 caps, loss
Game 3: 1 cap, win
Game 4: 1 cap, win
Game 5: 0 caps, loss
Game 6: 1 cap, loss
Game 7: 1 cap, win
Game 8: 3 caps, win (achieve on the 2nd cap)

It is still working; I received my achievement yesterday. I killed some flag carriers, then capped some flags. The only one thing is important; don't click automatically on the Leave Battleground button, just close WoW.
It seems that it does not linked to the time when do you open again WoW; I terminated on Saturday, and reopened just on Sunday evening and the counter was still on 6/9.

I will try the others like kill 5 flag carriers in an Eye of Storm battle, etc.
May be...

as of 6.0.2 still working got this in 2 games, just Alt+F4 few seconds before the game ends waith for another 5 minutes and log back in. Then que up again and keep on going as much as you can.

Working in 6.2.2 - Defended the flag room, did 4 returns first game, ALT+F4, Waited 2 min, logged back in and repeated the process. On the 3rd game I had a total of 8 returns and I capped a flag as my 9th. This got me my Khan title.

I only "put" back flags did not cap.

Connection was lost recently mid BG.. I was only 2/9, but noticed on going in another time progress had reset, so it looks like this bug/exploit has been fixed.

Since I was one of the unfortunates missing this achievement after they fixed the Alt+F4 bug, I decided to cheese it in a different way. I got a friend with a horde character, I think this is easier with a stealthy as there's less chance of interference. We both specific que'd for twin peaks on our respective H and A toons. If both Q's pop at the exact same time, you will most likely be put into the same instance. If we did not get Q's at the same time, the person who got the Q would decline and re-que. Long Q's are actually desireable because it increases the odds that you'll both be in the same instance (as the game is trying to fill up to 10 players on each side). So if you're in a 30-minute Q, don't reque! Once we got into the same instance, it was relatively easy. After the horde captured the flag first, the alliance room was empty except for me and my friend when the flag respawned. I got 8 flag returns in before I was killed by the rest of the horde team coming for the flag, but we were easily able to get another return later on in the match.

Step 1: Find a friend with a max level horde toon (preferably with stealth)
Step 2: Specific Q for Twin peaks. Wait for Q pop.
Step 3: If the Q pops, check if both players got the notification at the same time. If not, return to step 2. If yes, continue to Step 4.
Step 4: Hide in the flag room of the flag you need to return and wait for an opportune moment.
Step 5: when the two of you are alone with the flag, your horde friend picks it up and then clicks the buff off, dropping the flag. You return it.
Repeat step 5 until achievement happens.

For a rogue or melee-dps, returning 9 flags is perhaps not impossible, but in the majority of the twin peaks i've done 9 returns total didn't even happen. For me as a warlock, I'm sure this way was a lot less painful than the alternative.

Edit: I got the achievement tonight, 22 Apr 2021; I should say you have to be very lucky to get the same pop as your enemy faction friend. I have waited in queues for about 15 hours if not longer, and all I can say is patience is key, and queuing at times when queue times are long. Good luck to all of you still trying to get this achievement!
