If you are Horde, and are planning to complete this Achievement, i suggest entering via Stormwid Harbor. Guards there ar only lvl 65, compared to lvl 75 at the main gate,wich would make them easier to sneak/run past. Be aware that there is a patrol of 4 lvl 75 guards walking between the harbor and The stocades with a Defias prisoner, but i you spot them, tey can easily be avoided.

For the Horde who may not know where to go: Take the boat from Auberdine to Stormwind. When you get off the boat run straight and take the path to keep going up. When you get to the very top, you are going to go right and then take your next left into the city. Take the path on the right side of the canal. Follow the cobblestone path (you will go under 2 archways). Right after the 2nd archway, and before you come to the dead end, take a left over the bridge (the street marker will say you are going towards the Magic Quarter). Go over the bridge and take an immediate left (Do not go under the archway. Street marker says Trade District). Straight ahead you will see an archway/doorway with 2 guards, go through it. In the center of the room are the stairs leading down into the instance. Good Luck!

I was able to get in easily. I came in through stormwind harbor and jumped into the canal. Once in the canal I swam along the bottom (as not to be spotted by players or guards) to the east side of the stockades entrance. It was a short run and a very narrow escape with 10 guards beating me.

The zombie thingy was only good for one thing.. This!

As one could use the alliance portals in shattrath as horde when you were a zombie,
it was no problem teleporting to stormwind and running to the instance, as the guards didn't attack me.

In order to earn the achievement Well Read, you have to read the book The Guardians of Tirisfal. This book is only located in Stormwind and Karazhan, so if you're going to Stormwind for the Stockade achievement, you might want to consider reading the book which is located in the Stormwind library at 72.8, 9.6

I managed to do this at level 41 on my Blood Elf Rogue - died twice on the run there thanks to a mix of sprint, vanish and preperation to reset the cooldowns.

As most of the posts here say, I entered through Stormwind Harbour but I swam around, didn't take too long. Thanks to my Glyph of Blurred Speed (lets you walk on water while sprint is active) I basically ran all the way to the tower. Once your inside the city there are little to no patrols in that area other than the entrance to the Stockades but if you run fast enough you can safely get into the instance.

The instance itself was easily soloable at my level and as the instance is so small finding Bazal was easy. People couldn't believe I'd completed the achievement at such a low level and to top it off, I got on the train to Ironforge afterwards to try catch Old Ironjaw - was in Ironforge for 4 hours and didn't manage to get him but certainly suprised a few lv80's!

I did this as a lvl 47 blood elf palidain - i died twice on the run from the harbour to the stockade. I basically only used 2 invisibility potions and bubble twice. The invisibility potions and 1 bubble got me from the bottom of the harbour to the canals which i swam at the bottom of to just past the stockades and then i bubbled when i was at low health and ran into the instance and completed the achievement in 20mins. Also thanks to Sandraisevil ^^ for the directions..

Did it with my lvl 70 Blood Elf warlock. After I completed this achievement, I stayed in front of the instance for a few minutes. Eventually a gnome warrior (lvl 70) found me and attacked me. His folly cost him his life and granted me this achievement. Two birds with one stone :)

You can in fact wipe, (even at 70/80) before even entering the Instance... Making it really tough for Horde players... And vice versa

I was going for this instance as a level 64 Balance Druid. It was easy to sneak past the Harbor guards, as they were only a level above me and therefore unable to see me if I dashed past, leaving enough space between me and them.
The canals were pretty desolate, but the occasional low-level Allie ran by on their mount. I get near the closest enterance to the Stockades, and see the guards. I thought, oh &*!@, would they kill me? Should I dash in cat form or heal myself in normal form? Or should I put some HoT spells on and go in as Moonkin? I eventually decided on the last one, for the armor contribution could have come in handy.
After hesitating much trying to decide if the coast is clear, I buffed myself with Mark of the Wild, put on Regrowth and Rejuvenation, went Moonkin and ran into the Stockade. With only two guards attacking me, buffs, HoTs, and the armor bonus, what could go wrong?

There is also another hidden branch of the stockades that is inside the building in the center of the canal you can get to with the under sw glitch(or could haven't tried in a while) but there isn't really a point as its empty and no achieves<or anything> can be gained from it . supposed to originally be a instance, but was never added for a reason only blizzard knows. The instance was supposed to be similar to stockade, except this one is full of mages, demons, and elementals that the alliance could only lock up and not destroy.. Similar in many ways to Tol Barad, the Vault is kept secret from the public.

It is a prison that houses those who have no right to live, but Alliance has no means to kill easily

Although blizzard has never officially confirmed/denied that it was intended as a GM spawning playground,there are some interesting forums and threads that give convincing points to point you toward that conclusion
EDIT: After checking a few other sites the instance portal has apparently been deleted to it so it is now impossible to access but is still in-game like other places such as ironforge airport,gilneas and hyjal and its secret instance

It may be worth mentioning that doing this during a pre-cata event has it's ups and downs. The up-side is that the guards are, TO AN EXTENT, pre-occupied with the elementals so it makes it a bit easier (for those of us unable to stealth the whole way) to get to the final destination which is the instance entrance. The down-side is that, once you GET to the final destination, you won't be able to enter the instance until the pre-cata event has finished. I just stood at the front of the entrance, logged off for about 20min then came back on (the pre-cata event had ended by that time) and made the quick run.

At 4.0.3a, its hard for any 80 to get into the city undetected as the guards are now level 85 and hit like a truck on a clothie.

Horde, lvl 64, trying to get classic dungeonmaster achievment, but i nvr did stormwind stockade....

Tried swimming in from the harbour: harbour had two (that i saw) Bluetip Threshers. They did about 8000 dps.. If you can sneak by them there were a few lvl 15 guards and a few lvl 85 guards that did ranged. Gave up..

Tried running/stealthing in through the south gate: about a dozen lvl 85 guards that detect stealth and like to shoot you...

Plan B! doing the good old die/rez crawl.. I've died almost 15 times and advanced just inside the outer guards. It sucks cause the graveyard is pretty far away...

any other ways to get in since patch? I'd love to know.. will update progress.

It is possible. Took about 20-25 deaths. then just go to the outer perimeter of the respawn area (into Stormwind). Die. And do it over again. The handful of Alliance players hanging out in the trade square must've had a good laugh. Does gear still loose it's durability if you take it off and carry it? I never though of that.. My gear was wasted by the time i got in the instance. Still managed to solo The Stockade as a lvl 64 feral druid with no gear.... had to use some lvl 20 BoE stuff i picked up and pay the 8K repair bill back in TB. lol.

u can fly in. through harbor if u go off where the old barracks r close 2 mage qtr is easiest way. u just need 2 know where the entrance 2 the dungeon is. there is 2 doors u can go through, both r guarded by 2 lvl 85s. i stayed under the water in the canals until i got 2 the location.

I flew my lvl 85 gnome (Horde) from the harbor. I was pretty high up and dove into the building and was in the dungeon before I dismounted. The guards did attack but didn't do much damage.

The entrance is at 51, 70, which is the northern-most corner of the Mage Quarter. There is a building that is a circle with four smaller circles placed on the edges. That's it. Fly to it, drop down, and enter the building. Run forward, down the stairs, and enter the entrance. There are two Level 85 guards at the only entrance, but you should be able to make it past them without dying. If not, it's a helluva run from the Eastvale Logging Camp. :P

I just did this today, I am level 85 Belf DK, i flew right into stormwind, landed infront of stockade, killed the 2 guards at the door and walked in!

If you are a pet battle achievement person then go ahead and catch your Stormwind Rat while you are here. It counts toward the Eastern Kingdoms Safari.

Lvl 40. Hunter on Wotlk roflstomps this instance solo. I know Hunters are a noob class but that's why I like using it to solo things.
