Cataclysm: New Dungeons & Raids Preview
We recently previewed the upcoming
Cataclysm zones
, where we showed off the awesome new zones players will be able to experience in less than a week. We've not only got awesome zones such as Uldum, Kezan and Vashj'ir to look forward to, but many of these new zones feature new dungeons and raids as well! Cataclysm will ship with eight new dungeons, two upgraded Heroic versions of classic dungeons, and four new raids (with more being released in later patches). These dungeons will (of course) feature both normal and heroic versions, with raid encounters offering unlockable encounter-specific difficulty toggling. These raids will support the Flexible Lock System (
detailed here
, as well as in our
Cataclysm Guide
), allowing players to adjust raid sizing as necessary.
We've already seen quite a bit of new dungeon loot courtesy of the Cataclysm Beta, and there are many new items which can be purchased from vendors (including Tier 11 pieces!) using the new Justice Points and Valor Points curren

Legendary - The WoW Video Podcast - Conspiracy Theories Out The Yang
By now all of you have seen the
unofficial leak
that looked like it was made by a 3rd grader in MS Paint that sent the world (of warcraft) into a speculation frenzy.. This week's
LEGENDARY
is no different, we tackled the list with our very own off the cuff inception'esque conspiracy theories.. and we just may, or you know, we may not, blow (comma) your *pause for effect* mind.

Guilds, Lockouts, and a Buyers Market
The moment Blizzard announced the changes to raid lockouts, I rejoiced. I cheered. There may even have been some standing up and dancing involved, maybe. You see, I'm a 10-man raider and I am one by choice. The idea that I can raid what I want without feeling pressured into doing 25-mans because of the better loot is a change I fully approve of. It is not, however, a change without consequences or without controversy. This change will impact each and every one of us on an individual level.
The changes to Azeroth because of this may be as significant as the sundering itself, and my thoughts on them continue after the break!

Request for Feedback: Possible New CAPTCHA System
Wowhead uses a CAPTCHA system to prevent spam comments or forum posts from bots. We switched a little while ago to a system called
reCAPTCHA
, which were excited about since it lets you help with a book digitizing project while you fill out CAPTCHAs. Unfortunately, reCAPTCHA has caused a few issues as many of you know—providing words to type that weren't legible, or which used non ASCII symbols. For example, we got this feedback less than an hour ago:
http://i53.tinypic.com/24qu5ip.jpg
my Captcha, which I interpreted as "frentlea cf" Surprisingly it actually accepted "frentlea cf" as a correct response and posted my message.
But seriously, what is that? cftvth? cfwth? cfwtb? cnvtb? Well, cf it is then.
So we've been looking at alternatives!

Gear Check: Intel x25M 160GB Solid State Drive
Let's face it - for many casual gamers, most high-end PC upgrades aren't really necessary. I'm sure the majority of our readers are World of Warcraft players, and I'm sure we all know that Blizzard has gone out of their way to ensure that World of Warcraft will run on nearly
anything
. It's good that they do this, as it allows more people to enjoy the game (albeit at lower settings) and ultimately they get more subscribers - win/win scenario. However, I wanted to talk to the rest you guys out there about a technology that is still relatively new to most consumer computer users -
solid state drives
- and give you guys an idea of what they could mean for you, and your gaming experiences!
I'm sure some of our more tech-savvy users have at least heard of solid state drives, or SSDs as they are most commonly called. Some of you might even be using them in your computer (you lucky dogs)! Intel gave us a few of our own to test-drive, so I'd like to introduce you guys to the future of hard drives with simple pros and cons, elaborated on in ways that any Azerothian can understand!

More news—a post from Ghostcrawler about tanking changes, a major change to the way Battlegrounds are divided, and a cool interview with J. Allen Brack.

Blizzard Product Schedule: Leak or Hoax?

More Hotfixes, or "Why Gamon Will Wreck You"
There's a new round of hotfixes going up on live servers, and this batch includes yet another round of buffs to Gamon!
November 30
Gamon is now immune to all forms of crowd control, uses the abilities Charge and Battle Shout, and wrecks adversaries with his new two-handed axe.
Players should no longer be prevented from entering a Battleground for no reason.
Many loot tables for NPCs have been adjusted to provide the correct items and scaling.
The Alchemy bonus from Flask of Stoneskin now grants 120 stamina, up from 80 stamina, to keep it in-line with similar bonuses from other professions.
Many creatures in Uldaman were not awarding reputation upon death. This has been corrected.
Wrathbone Reavers, Wrathbone Sorcerers, and Fallen Warriors no longer grant reputation in Pit of Saron.
Players can again start the Thrall escape event in Caverns of Time: Old Hillsbrad regardless of quest status.
The temporary guardian Basalt Rockling no longer drops from Balboa in Azshara.
Magma-Lord Kolob in Burning Steppes no longer awards dungeon tabard reputation.

Experience Reduced for Dungeon Quests
Looks like Zarhym just jumped on to post that
Experience for 1-60 dungeon quests is being significantly reduced.
We are applying a hotfix today to all level 1-60 dungeon quests for Kalimdor and Eastern Kingdoms dungeons which will significantly reduce the amount of experience they award.
While dungeons should remain integral to our evolving storylines, and great places to collect gear in cooperative environments, we need to make sure each player’s questing progress remains relevant as dungeon quests are completed. In many cases we’re seeing players enter dungeons to complete quests, only to come out ahead of the leveling curve for the zones they’re in.
This change should allow players the opportunity to reap the benefits of running dungeons, while not outpacing the leveling flow from levels 1-60. At this time there are no plans for making any adjustments to dungeon quest experience for Outland, Northrend, and level 80+ Cataclysm dungeons.
You can find a list of all of the latest hotfixes here:

I don't know about you guys, but I'm really happy about this. I love

Thottbot Merged with Wowhead Framework
We just received this announcement from ZAM and I wanted to pass it along to you guys since some of you are probably wondering about Thottbot's future.
In a review of our World of Warcraft community sites,
ZAM Network
has decided to make some changes to the
Thottbot.com
site.
While
Wowhead will remain unaffected
, Thottbot will be sharing some of the Wowhead technology platform. A key goal was to improve the data available to the Thottbot community while retaining the Thottbot styling, navigation and community.
The following changes will occur to
thottbot.com
:
Thottbot will load its database information from Wowhead's database.
Thottbot will load its comment, screenshot, and video information from Wowhead's database.
Thottbot's blogs and forum have been closed. We will be setting up a Thottbot-specific forum on Wowhead for discussion specific to that site.
Thottbot user accounts are being deactivated. Unfortunately most of the accounts on Thottbot had no email addresses associated with them and Wowhead's technology requires an email address to register an account.

Cataclysm New Zones Preview
We're finally in the last days until World of Warcraft's Cataclysm expansion hits, bringing with it two new races (
which we covered previously
) and a ton of new zones, quests, dungeons, raids and more! We've gotten quite a look at the future of World of Warcraft with the recent patch, The Shattering, in which Deathwing brought destruction to the zones of Azeroth, changing our World of Warcraft forever.
The Shattering patch brought massive changes to all of the existing zones.
For those purchasing the Cataclysm expansion, you will see new zones being added to the game
. These new zones include 4 new zones for Goblin and Worgen races and 6 new leveling / endgame zones for players level 80 - 85. Check out our preview of these zones, from our

Hotfixes and Mysterious Patch Download
We mentioned this on
Twitter
and
Facebook
, but I figured it'd be good to get this posted here as well: The Blizzard folks have released another round of hotfixes onto official servers, and a brand new patch download.
This download is not a new patch.
It's actually a re-push of Blizzard's
last
patch, because some people got an incomplete download the last round.
It's not a new patch, it's actually "re-downloading" data which will replace current files. It's intended to resolve a few issues including disconnects and 'pink squares'.
As it's not a patch, if you're extremely eager to get into the game (or it's taking too long) you can actually bypass the launcher and run the wow.exe in your game directory and play normally. You can then continue on downloading it later after you're done playing.
We've also had a bunch of new hotfixes deployed on live servers, as listed by Zarhym below. Check after the break to see them:

Reminder: WoW 6th Anniversary Begins Tonight
Just as a quick reminder—even though WoW's 6th anniversary was technically on November 23rd, the anniversary Feat of Strength goes into effect on
November 30th!
If you're on an EU server, you can already get the
6e anniversaire de WoW
achievement just by logging in right now. US servers will have to wait until midnight before the achievements go live on their servers.
If our sources are correct, you should have until
December 14th
to log on and get your achievement! Now that shouldn't be a problem for any of you, should it?
