I'm curious if they'll always drop these and if there will be some sort of vendor that collects them in exchange for fun goodies? Tmog/pets etc, maybe things with a bit of a Diablo theme to them. Would be fun!

Dropped by the RARE mob Amasseur langue-de-wyrm and can appear in any area where 7.0 Legion mobs are. It is a rare mob, so it will appear as a silver star on your zone map.

Critical Info about Amasseur langue-de-wyrm:

Mob is level is ALWAYS max, meaning 110, so it will be extremely tough to kill if not max level before he portals out.
When Portail d’évasion is being channeled, you have 5 seconds before it escapes.
Rewards Pièces du sanctuaire even if you don't kill him before he escapes.

No word yet in Legion Alpha/Beta on what happens, or special loot, when you actually kill him before escape.

If gold from Diablo 3 that's dropped by a treasure goblin isn't just recognized as "Gold" by the people of Azeroth etc. then I'm suddenly very confused. I can only assume that whoever mints all of Azeroth's gold has stringent anti-counterfeiting measures in place such that PCs can tell at a glance that this gold isn't ACTUALLY gold. Then again who does mint all of the currency in WoW? Sanctuary Coins have a vendor price of about a third of a gold each, is the implication we're selling them based on their raw materials? Does this mean that each coin of real, regular gold is made with a third of a gold's worth of gold?

Blizzard, please, explain your lore. I will not be able to enjoy your game of Werewolf Priests fighting space goat demons and evil mer-elves unless you can explain why Sanctuary Coins cannot be spent like regular currency.

So looking closely at the coin, apparently all the gold in the Diablo universe is minted with Goblins from the WoW universe on them. It's all starting to make sense now...

Soooo, did these coins make it to the event on 'live' servers?

Neither the Cow King, nor 4-5 goblins I killed dropped any.
