The key is used to start a quest. If you get the key and are done with the quest where you are required to cleanse the braziers then start heading back. You will notice that there is someone you can talk to in the locked cage you saw when you entered. Pretty tough if you're on a PvP server but other than that, fairly easy at level 53. (Hunter)

If you loot this item and cannot find it, check your keyring. That's where it went for me, thought it was bugged at first

Note that the key will go onto your keyring. I picked this up, then spent ages looking for it in my bag (I started to doubt that i had even picked it up!)

I eventually gave up looking for it. But then the next day, I was just looking through my items and when I opened the keyring slot, there it was ;)

Droprate on this can actually be quite low. Took 20-30 kills on 2 characters to get it.

Also, it didn't go in to my keyring, it was in my bags. Must have been fixed in 3.1
