I farmed this for about an hour before I realized I hadn't learned the rank 1 pattern. After I learned the rank 1 pattern I went back and farmed for about 15 minutes and it dropped off of a Smolderhide Chanter.

i farmed for this for about 30 minutes with no drop, until realizing that i had the rank 3 pattern in my bags. I moved it to my bank and came back to farm for 30 minutes, still no drop. farmed for another 30 minutes after moving it to my bank for 30 minutes. Still not sure what's up with this but it wont seem to drop from the chanters, hunters, or warriors for me.

This ALSO drops off the furbolg in the Grizzly Hills portion of the Emerald Nightmare raid (Ursoc trash). I just got it off a Grisly Trapper, I think it was.

To note, I had the lvl 3 pattern in my bag; it did not stop it from dropping.

The Smolderhide Warriors, Hunters, and Chanters all seem to drop this. They are located in Smolderhide Thicket, in southwest Val'sharah. Mine dropped off of a Smolderhide Warrior (which happen to be the most abundant mob there). I had the rank 3 in my bag (which is why I went to farm the rank 2, so I could use it). It took about 30 minutes of killing mobs for it to drop. The only suggestion is to make sure you have learned rank 1 already prior to going and farming.

Took me about an hour of farming in Smolderhide village. I probably wiped the village clean about 5 or 6 times before it finally dropped. Always feel bad for farming a place where people are questing, but didn't see much choice.

On the plus side if you've quested through here they are neutral to you so you never need to worry about pulling too many.

As already stated, this drops off furbolgs in the Broken Isles, namely those in Steelclaw Vale, Val'Sharah. I usually have terrible RNG luck, and as expected had to farm for about 2 hours for this pattern. I cleared the area multiple times, always near their homes and the road that runs through the area. I finally got a little bored and hopped down to kill the few warriors outside Sleeper's Barrow and it dropped from one of the 3 warriors next to the bear statue.

Best place is (46,85) in Smolderhide Thicket in Val'sharah.If you turn camera you have 3+ packs of mobs to attack with Ranged attacks.Had lvl 3 in bag and it dropped in 10 minutess with the speed you can do at that spot

I tried to farm this for 2 hours today, no joy. I have learn l1, I have l3, but L2 is not dropping for me from smolderhides.

dropped from smolderhide hunter.....i had to kill about 200 npc furries in the area but yeah it drops

I was starting to think something is wrong but I got it after a couple of hours on smolderhides. On the bright side they do drop cloth.

Seems you need the first rank for this to drop. I farmed it for days before realising I didn't have the first rank learned. Went to learn it, farmed for 10-20 minutes, and it dropped for me. Could be a case of luck/chance, but I doubt it. Odd considering I already had the pattern for rank 3, so I didn't need any previous ranks for that to drop.

Can definitely confirm Smolderhide Thicket. A few have mentioned Steelclaw Vale as a "hot spot" and I did indeed get mine there from a Smolderhide Warrior (at 50, 85) right of Sleeper's Barrow Entrance. It took about 30 minutes.

OK, yes... I have been carrying around the level 3 pattern in my bags the entire expansion. Because it wouldn't even sell on the AH, I'm guessing you have been carrying around one, too!

I was on a furbolg extermination event for the past hour. Started killing everything thinking more Chanters might spawn. They didn't. I then targeted nothing but the Chanters. Still nothing. Logged for about half an hour to do some things and came back. First couple of Chanters came up dry. Then I killed a hunter out of frustration. Guess what dropped!
