This item is a reward from the Order Hall Champion mission Affronter nos peurs.

I was given the quest Cauchemar d’émeraude : Il’gynoth. This quest requires you to go into the Emerald Nightmare and slay Il'gynoth.

The rewards from this quest are the following:

16450 Experience - Most likely for future players as max level increases
19 gold 40 silver - Awarded to players at max level
Cache de trésors cauchemardesques

Curious as to why there is experience on a raid quest at all.

There appears to be 4 versions of this Fragment d'œuf corrompu that offers different versions of the Quest that is tied to the different boxes you get that rewards the EN Cache, meaning this is likely gated the same way and determined through Boss Kills which one is offered to your followers to chase after initially.

I will list some data and see if we can determine the breakpoints.

Further data from the Feuille de Reflet-de-Lune contaminée will suggest 8 bosses of current difficulty will provide you that type's cache including higher difficulty boss kills. (7 normal + 1 heroic etc., yields Normal)

Edit: October 24 - Mission is offered on Monday prior to reset to allow players to obtain the item prior to entering Emerald Nightmare before Tuesday.

Anyone else still never seen the order hall mission to get this?
Been 2 resets now and nothing...
First week I did 7/7 nm and 1/7 hc, second 7/7 nm and 3/7 hc.

I've heard talk of a bug for EU, but i don't know if thats whats happening.
When does this appear usually? Immediately after the weekly reset?

Be aware that you can get the mission Facing Our Fears if you already have accepted but not completed the quest Into the Nightmare: Il'gynoth. When your followers complete the mission you will receive a message that you already have this quest and you will receive a second Corrupted Egg Fragment in your inventory. After killing Il'gynoth and turning in the quest, both Fragments will be removed but you will only receive one Cache of Nightmarish Treasures.

tl;dr If you have Into the Nightmare: Il'gynoth in your quest log don't complete Facing Our Fears or you will lose a 2nd Cache of Nightmarish Treasures

Just want to add that this quest is completed in your class hall.

I had problems finding out where it was one had to complete it, as it only shows The Clutch of Corruption in The Emerald Nightmare when you click on "Show on map" in the quest log.

I can confirm that with 10 mythic kills you will get a Mythic Cache. Probably the magic number is 8 but you will definitly get it with 10.

I got this quest, and the only EN kills I had were 3/7 lfr two or three weeks previously.

If you happen to have several of these, they will all be destroyed when you turn in the quest even if you put them in the bank.

I found this out having three of them (yes, I was a bit lazy about doing the quests). Even though two were in the bank, they were destroyed when I turned in this quest. Make sure you complete them before taking another one.

I wanted to add that I made the same mistake today... and with good results! I had two Vials of Swirling Shadow and when I completed the quest, the other item was not deleted! I suspect it will also apply to other Order Hall dungeon and raid quest starting items, including this one.

14 hc kills and still RFinder cache...
On my other alt same 14 hc kills and got several HC caches, with hunter bis 890 trinket
