Interesting how it's also tagged as a crafting reagent. Maybe later on we'll get "cooking recipes" for engineers to make higher level "food" for higher level mechanical pets.

Why the odd stacking limit, on top of the other stupidity with this item that can't be fed to pets despite being alleged for that purpose? Why 999 instead of the dramatically more common 1000? Why not 200? Is there a dartboard somewhere in the WoW development offices that is used to pick stacking limits for new items as they are added?

Blizzard please make cooking recipes that utilize these for high level pets, would be really nifty if there were dif recipes you can learn to make the pets do things like function as a mount for an hour or +25% run speed etc... come on guys lets make this happen!

9.2.5 - these still seem to have no use.

Hunter mechanical pets - no option to feed, nothing happens when you right click the item.
Battle pets level 1 to 25 - nothing happens when you right click on the item. No option on right clicking the unit frame to feed.

Still appears as a "Crafting reagent" but can't craft anything with them.

Weirdly, it has a 2.90 region daily average sold rate according to TSM, but I have never successfully sold any on the AH at any price, so I'm pretty sure people just use them for moving gold around.
