Drops from Arpenteur à cornes striées or similar nearby mobs in Vol'dun Bouldered Bluffs .
After you loot this item you need to go to 56.24 15.26 and find Mysterious Trashpile to the east of hyena area.
Use Mysterious Trashpile and you will be ported to Jani world, speak with jani, turn in the item and receive the reward treasure chest.
When you loot this item you hear: A Guttural Voice whispers: What is it you have there, richmon? A shiny trinket for ol' Jani? Bring it closer...

It's the Ringhorns found in the north of Vol'dun near 56.0 15.4 that drop this item. The ones closer to Akunda's Temple will not drop the item.
Jani's Mysterious Trashpile for it's turn in is also located here.

Drop rate is very poor for the limited number of spawns available. Be prepared to spend a bit of time here waiting for the Ringhorns to respawn over a few cycles. Took me four respawns before I got mine.

So I killed many of these cute creatures on my way to Jani's pile of trash, and the one I killed right next to the pile of trash gave me the hoof.

I went right up to that spot 56.0 15.2, killed a strider, a couple fawns and then a stag and it dropped from the stag. Took all of less than a minute. Shouldn't take long to complete.

I got my drop almost instantly while grouped with my wife. 100 or so kills later she still didn't have one. Tried disbanding and the very next kill it dropped for her while solo. Not sure if just random luck, or if you need to be solo to get it.

Are there any prereqs for this or is my usually luck holding out. I have killed hundreds of deer over two separate days and no drops. I am in the correct spot. My alt did it in about 5 minutes. Is there something one of my characters needs to do to get them to drop?

I had two items left to get for the Get Hek'd achievement, this and the Sturdy Redrock Jaw. This damn hoof took over an hour of killing gazelle/antelope things to drop. The jaw dropped on the first freaking hyena. This proves that hyenas are cool, and gazelles are jerks.

Just here to say that killing the mobs on the pile of bones seems to make them almost guarantee a drop. Pulled all 7/8 in the area nearby and killed them on the pile, got 5 hooves.
