Until there are more miners using the wowhead looter it won't show up as being mined from other sources of ore.

It seems thus far that it can be mined from the higher end mineral deposits at a low %.

I believe to have a realistic chance of getting this gem from your monthly envelope from the consortium you need Revered or Exalted. I know it CAN be in the envelop if you are honored, but it is only a very very low % chance.

I've been farming a good amount of Adamantite lately, flying around Nagrand, and I've gotten this several times from the Adamantite Deposits. Also gotten it from the Nethercite Ore at Netherwing Ledge in Shadowmoon.

I just got this from a gem envelope and I am only friendly with the Consortium. So you can get it at that low of rep as well, though I can only imagine how low the drop rate actually is.

this gem, being the most expensive on my server, can rake in a -lot- of cash. Being a JWC and farming Nagrand, prospecting the ore I find, and getting the gems, can earn me a ton of cash, regardless of the gem that drops out. But, oddly enough, this one is ''found'' the most for me. Cash ftw =)

I just got 2 of the Living Ruby from pickpocketing the mobs from the daily quests in Isle of Quel'Danas. I think I got lucky, lol.

Most of these gems on my server are going for the same or less GOLD than you can get at a vendor. Must have been nerfed.

Basically just vendor trash now.

The jewelcrafting recipes are world drop or require BC era reputations (which most levelling JCs won't have), meaning that most people will cut the trainer-taught WotLK-era green gems for 350+ JCing.

The crafted items will be rarely enough made that you'll probably lose money via deposit costs while trying to sell the gems on AH.
