you neglect to mention level 62, which is the lowest level you can obtain a metagem socket(engineering goggles), at 62 this would be ~40% haste :D ALMOST as good as the mystic one was before the nerf :(

This gem recipe has not yet been discovered in the game so it's believed to be yet another missing recipe in the game that "should" have been implented...

There are loads of recipes like this in WOTLK, to give an example:

I just had this drop today, so it's out there. Now, to learn it, or sell it that's the real question.
UPDATE: It's proc rate is NOT 100% I equipped this on my pally just to try it out, only proc'd one time on a lvl 78 mob. Might be better for a Rogue/Hunter/DK but not so fun for me. Also, I tried spells, it does NOT proc with spells only melee or ranges as it states.

It's 480 haste rating for six seconds, probably on a 45-second internal cooldown.

So, that's roughly the same as 64 permanent haste rating if it truly has a 100% proc rate, or 48 permanent haste rating if it goes off once per minute. Even considering that haste is less useful than other stats (due to limits involving the global cooldown and skill cooldowns), that's not bad for a meta-gem.

I maybe wrong it, its happens sometimes...

Haste Rating: shamans, paladins, druids, and death knights now receive 30% more melee haste from Haste Rating. (as of 3.1)

So instead of it converting to 480/32.79=14.63% haste
Now i see it as 480/25.21=19.05% haste

EJ had a post at beginning of 3.0 stating shamans with lower crit rates (below 30%) could actually benefit from this more than other gems. I wonder if this is at a higher crit rate crossover point. maybe 32%.

EJ statement:

is the best choice for a metagem as it only requires 1 sub-optimum blue gem. However if you have 2 socket bonuses that you want to activate that require blue gems then the is an acceptable alternative. These gems will scale with your crit rating. The 3% crit damage can be roughly approximated to raise your DPS by 0.03 * Crit Rate. At 30% crit rate this amounts to roughly 1% gain in damage dealt.

gives 480 haste for 6 seconds. This is your second choice for meta gems as it appears to have a 1 minute cooldown on the proc. Shaman with lower crit rates will benefit slightly more from this gem over the RED and CSD.

According to Rawr this is currently the best metagem for an Unholy DK, far superior to Chaotic Skyflare Diamond. It also enables you to activate the meta with Nightmare's Tear alone, leaving you free to gem your other sockets with Strength.

However haste will loose alot of it's value in 3.3, probably rendering this point moot. Since 3.3 might be far away still though, this might be worth pointing out.

Of course Rawrs might be wrong, if anyone can point to this, feel free to report.

The proc appears to share a cooldown with Chuchu's Tiny Box of Horrors. I had this gem socketed and the tiny box equipped...the box procced all the time, but Skyflare Swiftness never did. As soon as I un-equipped the trinket, Skyflare procced...and boy did it proc.

I would assume that it could share a cooldown with any melee haste trinket or affect.

I bought this Design off the AH today for 16g, literally. Whoever posted this just had a bid but no buyout price.
So, my question now is, should I learn it or just re-sell it? Buyout on my server says around 350g. Or would it be worth it just making the metas? The metas sell for around 50g. Any suggestion would be appreciated.

Ok so has anyone looking into testing this as a possible Ret Metagem replacement to the Relentless? Word is Haste will be a lot more valuable, nearly 2nd after Str, so it would seem this might be a viable option, provided you don't have a Haste Proccing Trinket like DBW. Even then that's only 1 out of 3 possible procs,

Enter 4.0.3a where all other useful Meta gems have had their requirements changed to "Requires more blue than red" rendering them near useless.

This gem seems to be the only truly viable melee alternative (aside from maybe the runspeed gem if you are getting it from somewhere else that you can reallocate).

Until "The current design has been reconsidered, so we're planning to revert gems that now require more blue than red gems back to their original requirements. Such a change can't be accomplished via a hotfix though, so we'll have to wait to revert these in a future patch." is implemented regarding the "Requires more Blue gems than Red gems Requires at least 1 Yellow gems" Meta requirements, this is proving to be a nice alternative to Relentless for my rogue.

Tested on a combat dummy today on my level 20. Currently procs for 120 haste maybe 3 times every 2 minutes.
