Took me ~130 kills to get this heart. As a 46 rogue this took ~1.5 hours of non stop killing. No pet dropped though through out all these kills.

Get hearth is about 20 kills. Low drop rate on WoWhead is about many people kill that whelps to farm dragon scales. Also, farm bots love this mobs aswell.

We've found our 25-30's kill. in 15 minutes, with a 44 Rogue, 44 Paladin and me (46 warrior). all group members can loot with one kill. Good luck :))

Just did this quest on my warrior, took me 4 kills to get the heart. Although i know what people are saying about the crummy drop rate took me absolutely ages on my paladin. Just gotta hope to be lucky is all :)

the drop rate is really..extremely low..just keep farming and u will get lots of gold with..at least..i got few green and blue item when doing this quest..1st time i go for the elite dragons..then i go killing the small one.drop by the small one...

I killed about 10 of the scorched guardians before i got the heart. easy task for a lvl 45 paladin, using the fire resistant aura. :)

I Killed About 30-40 Whelp's And about 20 Guardians for this little Heart and i got a Whelping to (Non-Combat pet)
So when you do this quest dont just do it for the enchant thing and the Exp do it also for the Cute Little Dragon <3

For skinners, this quest is a paradise (the longer it goes on, the more skins)...

Regardless, I got the heart after a level and a half of grinding these mobs :(. (41 to 42)

in doing this quest, i was lucky enough to get the black dragon whelpling non-combat pet from the non-elite mobs, and i was also lucky enough to get the heart 4 kills later, i decided to learn the pet instead of selling it for 100g on my server's AH

Found the heart on one after about 30 tries, Got it from one at 77.1, 63.6. It wasn't as easy as some of the other quest in Badlands but not to bad either.

I hate to beat a dead horse, but this quest sucks! FINALLY got it to drop off a scorched gaurdian(elite) at 83, 58. Don't get discouraged, though. Be patient and it'll drop.

This is the most annoying quest ever!

I killed around 150 drakes, then I skipped the quest cause it made no sense to search for it..

BUT....
Then I returned back for that new quest I had with the 3 stones. 1 small drake, the first I aggro'd unmounted me so I killed it, guess what item that was there? YES, the freakin' heart, and then after at the first stonething I aggro'd another drake without killnig any other drakes.. I killed it and guess what the loot was? YES, the freakin' non-combatpet that sells around 3k on my server!

actually, that was the luckiest moment in my entire life at WoW :D

Killed every single whelp and drake in the area for about 2 hours before it dropped at level 80 :/ Now to go farm Jazz'rik for Bloodsail rep.

I only killed about 30 of the smaller whelps before it dropped, or approximately 20 mins of play time. Happy hunting!

I've been farming this item for about 10 minutes now.

Killed all the Whelps, no drops.

Killed one Guardian, got the heart.

I suppose the drop rate on Elites are a bit higher, or i'm really lucky.

I gained over a 1/4 of my exp bar and i must have cleared the area of the whelps at least 10 times. But I finally got it on my 150th(?) kill.

After 97 kills i came here to see if im doing something wrong. After that short break, aware now of the awful drop rate, got it first kill. Yay!

Not worth it unless you're a hardcore completionist.

Cleared the area maybe 7-8 times, read some posts on it, then after about 6 kills it dropped. Pain in the ass, but the feeling of triumph you get when it does drop is wicked.

Wow, I feel lucky. Was doing this quest for Loremaster (at 637/700!) and it dropped within ten minutes of farming. No vanity pet though..gonna have to come back for that.

Killed about 30 of the elite dragons before reading these comments. Dropped off of my 7th whelp - don't waste your time with the elites despite what Questie says. Anyone at level 41 should be able to complete this quest.
