This little-known gem of an explosive has several uses:
in PvP, getting a pet or druid off you. Particularly useful if you're a caster.
in PvE, in AoE beast fights like Arlokk in ZG. My guild used these when we were first learning the encounter- she was on farm status quite quickly.
It doesn't require engineering, to start. Market potential there.
To gather the mats, just hang around STV for a while- the pearls spawn in clams of the coast of Grom' Gol. After that, just kill humanoids and mine iron- you can farm for these and iron grenades at the same time.

How high is the "chance of failure" over level 60? Is it worth it to make these for outlands quests?

I don't know about this thing but Iron Grenade's "Fizzle" alot when you try to throw them now on a level 60 Character. not sure if its the same for these.

these will be great for twink healers in bg's, especially seeing that alot of twinks tend to be hunters and i can find myself with up to 3 or 4 pets on me at a time! bye bye pets :)

These still work on 70's, I'll try to get the quest done on one of my engineer alts and make a few and test it around sometime. But I saw a pvp video of a warrior using it against a druid in a duel, seems to work at 70.

I think a lot of people that come to this page would like to know roughly how often these don't work for lv 70 pvp(??%). I know i would like to know.

These are especially useful for non-engineers because they share cooldowns with mostly just other bombs....which a non-engineer will more than likely not have any of. Also, from what I have seen, unlike other forms of fear, damage does not break this one. Great against a druid flag carrier in WSG, running around feared while the raid beats them down.

I tested it on a shaman friend while he was shifted into Ghost Wolf, and it worked!

Sadly, if you drop engineering and pick it up again (to switch from Gnomish to Goblin Engineering or vice versa, for example), you will not be able to go pick up the schematic for this again. I just tried. =(

Just tested this beauty in LFR on Vampiric Cave Bats. This affected few of them and they flew far away..to the boss and we wiped.
