It's not a buff food, but it heals for a lot more than the average level 10 req foods.
Though the ingredients may be obscure, this is excellent to make for a budding tank!
If you happen to get this recipe on Alliance side, it shouldn't be much trouble for you to scour Bael Modan for Dig Rats, provided you can make it there in one piece and you're not in a PvP realm.

As of Patch 4.2, Alliance can go and kill Excavation Raiders in Bael Modan.
It took me 35 kills for the recipe to drop.I also got a Savory Deviate Delight recipe

In writing moment (patch 4.3), I got the Plump Dig Rat that teaches the recipe on my 9th kill of the dig rats runing around Bael Modan.
While waiting for the rats to respawn I killed the tauren invaders, which gave me 3 x Recipe: Savory Deviate Delight.

just got this recipe from killing a dig rat in the bael modan digsite in the southern barrens. you get a plump dig rat that you have to cook over a fire to learn the recipe.

Yes it is still available, it's BOP, found from rats only.
Took me 41 to get the plump one.
