This recipe does not appear to be available to buy from any of the cooking vendors/trainers in Orgrimmer. During the last week I have accumulated 18 toughened flesh from the crates of tasty meat bought with 2 cooking awards (bought by my various alts) and I am thinking Blizzard have withdrawn this recipe but its still being given in the crates which is definitely a waste of 2 cooking awards if that is the case!

Weird this is the second recipe thats 425 skill that is only available to horde and has no alliance equal.

This really is a we hate alliance expansion :(

(Have been told by a GM that the Blackened Surprise recipe will be available to train on Cata release day.)

Does that mean Alliance are not getting Toughened Flesh in their crates of Tasty Meat? How odd.

It is available at the cooking trainer in Dalaran. I tried to pick it up on my hunter in SW,but the trainer there did not offer it.
:( Chasm stalkers in scalding chasm apparently drop the meat.

Seeing as it hasn't been confirmed by any comments or under the "criteria of" page, making these does count toward the guild achievement: Set the Oven to Cataclysmic.

After finding out that Starfire Espresso and other similarly easy recipes do not give credit, I was worried that this one does not.

On my realm, the raw meat is about 25 silver. I have my hands full with fishing 10,000 fish from schools nearly single-handedly. I don't feel like wasting time fishing up Lavascale Catfish (they cannot be found in pools) for goblin BBQs. Being that is only a +60 buff anyway, I'll be using this $%^&ty meat for the guild cooking achievement.

Edit: Also, when you cook them, the vendor price increases a bit ( ;

If you're planning on farming Chair raffermie to make Blackened Surprise and level up your cooking, my experience has been to farm in Uldum, mainly Serpent des marais, Hyène enragée, or Tigre. There are plenty of them, and they have a decent drop and respawn rate. I was able to collect a good-sized stack of meat inside of 15 - 20 minutes. Create Blackened Surprise from cooking level 435, it will stay orange all the way through level 450.

And yes, the recipe is available from any Alliance or Horde cooking trainer, at least as of patch 4.3.
