It also plays the emote "<Name> holds his/her to the wind."

Boy Scout Weather Rock

If the rock's hot, its sunny.
If the rock's turned white, its snowing.

And then if you want immature boy scouts to be constantly stealing it, add another line to the bottom that reads "If its gone, you're on your own!"

If you play them while you're using the druid and priest statue set then you'll see falling leaves in the cone of light buff that the statue set gives you. You don't see the leaves when using either alone.

This is one item that I would love to try to replicate in real life. The completion screen and icon give a pretty good idea of the number and arrangement of the chimes, and their size could be extrapolated (or at lease estimated) from the pitch of the notes in the sound files. With the right equipment, the parts could be designed and cast in bronze using a lost-wax technique.

Now to find someone willing to let me use their casting equipment...

!Trade Descriptions Warning! The description of these as Kaldorei Wind chimes is misleading if you use these in certain environments - for instance, if you hold them up in Winterspring, it will read "held up to the snow" which makes them snow chimes, and similarly if it's chucking it down you'll get a message that they are, in fact, rain chimes. A quick pointer, if the ground and surrounding environment is white, then you will almost certainly get the "snow" message, and if water is falling from the sky then it may well be a message about rain. You may well get messages about other meteorological phenomenon, but effectively, other than a sound like someone dropping a glass eye into a demijohn, this item does nothing that a quick look upwards wouldn't do equally as well, if not better. About as useful as a "harmful if eaten" warning on a jumbo jet....

Disappointingly, there seems to be no animation to go with the use of this item. A shame, since even the simplest /salute would probably have been enough. Probably up there with the for underwhelming novelty items.

Can be somewhat useful if you're hunting pets that spawn under certain weather conditions. Sometimes snow or rain can be hard to see with very low settings in certain areas, this item will confirm what the weather actually is so you know to be on the lookout for that Arctic Fox Kit.

You also get a different sound based on the conditions, snow gave me a quiet shimmering sound, a bit like a wisp makes.

While I do enjoy these novelty items, they do tend to take up much needed bag space! Mists of Pandaria has seen an increasing number of bag clutter and I can't help thinking that we deserve a special slot, e.g. a free "bottomless bag" for stuff like this ... and cooking ... don't get me started on cooking! Otherwise I fear the name "World of Bagcraft" might catch on.

This item comes in very handy for rare battle pet hunting. In the Storm Peaks, it can be very difficult to 'see' if it is snowing or not, which is very crucial for finding the Arctic Fox Kit. You would think an area covered in snow would have snowfall quite often, but some servers only see snow once a week. The chimes may seem like a useless item, but when you can't 'see' the snow falling, and are looking for a rare spawn pet that only comes out of its den during snowfall, this item is priceless!
