You can only create up to 8 fireworks with this item, so if you have learned all 5 firework schematics already, make those instead.

You get five fireworks for one if you use the specific recipes, while using this random one gives you 4-8 for three . So don't do that!

OK guys! If you are starting to make them and get ANY of the recipes, DON'T LEARN THEM! Sell it! not many people know that these drop the recipes, so you can make quite the profit just selling them. I sell them at 200g a piece! When you learn it, it WILL NOT ALLOW FOR THE RECIPE TO DROP FROM THE BOX ANYMORE, SO DON'T LEAR THEM!

Possibly this has changed since patch 5.1 but having read the comments about not learning the fireworks schematics in order to get multiple copies of them, I have made many of these Pandaria Fireworks. To date I have only had 1 copy of each schematic drop for me while I had a copy of that schematic in my bags. So it may be useful to mail any copies you have to another character before making nay more of this item. This may just be the RNG messing with me but rather than waste lots of materials making fireworks without the schematics dropping it seems wiser to send any existing copies away for selling /storing. Admittedly you do get random drops of the 5 fireworks but as this recipe uses 3 powder each and usually only gives around 5 random fireworks whereas the actual process to make the individual types only uses 1 powder to give 5 of the type you picked, it seems a wiser use of materials to wait till you have learned the various schematics if you are looking to build a stock of the different fireworks.

Nota bene: This is the only means of learning these schematics, so making this item may rightly be termed "research".

Second, the output item is a container and will contain from 4 to 8 of several different fireworks:

Once the recipes are known to you, it is a more efficient use of your mats to use the individual recipes (e.g., 3 Poudre à canon hautement explosive for 4-8 of a random Pandaria firework vs. 1 Poudre à canon hautement explosive for 5 of a specific firework).
