Does this buff only one ring or if you have multiple spec rings does it buff all of them? Is the buff account-wide? If you have multiple alts with rings do they all get buffed?
So 20 weeks to get 795 legendary ring, assuming you already have the legendary ring. Thats 5 months!
So we're supposed to kill Archimonde 20 times (= 5 months) to get the ring from 735 to 795? rofl, insane.. at least it looks like later on it's possible to skip most wings (if not all) and get directly to him.
Well, that's one way to kill off even more newcomers or twinks or casuals. Looking forward for even more retarded ilvl requirements to join a raid.
It's nearly certain it will not be account-wide, because that would cut time required to get full upgrade from 5 months to two weeks, assuming one is crazy enough to have 10 alts he raids with consistently, or to 1-2 months if one raids with 3-4 alts. Blizzard tends to design those things in a way that does not make people with multiple alts progress faster. Also, this will bring ring to 60 ilvls over Mythic Archie loot. So unless we get another raid tier in WoD, ring will be still quite strong at max level of next expansion.
Just because something can be done doesn't automatically mean that it must be done. You are not required to upgrade your ring to iLvl 795, you are given the option to do so if you manage to kill Archimonde enough times.
If you are dedicated enough to get the legendary ring, then anything like this pretty much becomes a requirement by default.Just like having the ring (cloak in MoP) becomes the requirement for invites.
Oh sweet, I'm looking forward to never upgrading my legendary ring past 735.
Ugh, so for us casual players we're probably only ever going to see our ring at 735-740ish at best? That sucks, chances are we won't even get an invite because we didn't already max the ring out.We better still get the legend of Draenor title next expansion.
More grind for the Grind God. Another obvious attempt to keep people subscribed without making new content.
The alternative is that if 6.2 is not the last patch of Warlords, then Blizz will put in a catch-up mechanic involving the next raid tier. Hey, it wasn't as if they didn't screw over people who bought high-end Apexis gear in 6.0 and 6.1.
Well, time to see if I have what it takes to do Normal HFC with a PUG. Wait, that will be after I get rings for all 7 characters...
oh good since our guild can't even raid anymore I guess I dont need to worry about that
That's pretty exciting, the ring will end up being really strong in the end.
I'm wondering how main spec/off-spec rings will work with this weekly upgrade item... I'm tanking in-raid... but obviously don't quest/farm mats/etc. in Bear form... so I'm hoping my Boomkin Ring gets those extra ilvls as well.
I'm of two minds on this legendary ring upgrade concept. On one, the higher ilvl legendary rings help to differentiate regular raiders from those that got their ring from LFR, rewarding the raiders while still giving a reasonably decent piece of gear to more casual players. On the other, not only does this seem like a pretty heavy grindfest, but this is in addition to the time it'll take to acquire the ring in general. It makes me very concerned as to what will happen next tier if there is one because if this is a way to try to extend the lifespan of HFC, there's going to be a lot of monotony ahead. Also, as mentioned above, this design is ludicrously alt-unfriendly and second spec-unfriendly unless the progress is account-wide/character-bound.
