um already been done its called wow matrix
I just drooled a bit.
Also known as the Curse Client? I don't really like this, tbh - I'm fine with WoWinterface rolling an addon client but they're trying to make it sound like a new and original idea, which it is not.
Thing is, they killed Wowmatrix (addon authors not getting to ask for donations, wowmatrix guy taking out in game spam begging for donations etc., not receiving ad revenue from page clicks(which is funny because so many people block ads anyway lol)), which basically lead to rage from wowmatrix users. Thus they created this because their current program that does this is dreadful, and hardly does the job, and curse's program is just as bad, not to mention both are limited to their own sites. Hopefully this program doesn't blow in comparison WoWmatrix (or even wau, which set the standard), or the current versions of Curse and WoWi's auto updaters.
wow matrix works fine i have no problem with it at all i dont know what you are talking about
Then why should you care if someone creates another client? There were updaters long before wowmatrix, should it not have been created?
My opinion - really excited about that. I have always disliked Curse, even when I didn't know of any alternatives. It has always looked too flashy, too shiny, too...I don't know, almost ugly. The website is heavy and somewhat hard to navigate. Not to mention that it's not part of ZAM, unlike WOWUI.WoWMatrix was a nice program in the beginning, and I admit I still use it once or twice a month, but I update my most important addons manually. I know quite a few addon authors refused to give wowmatrix rights to use their addons, because it didn't give credit, nor did it have option for donation like the Minion will. Not to mention the security questions around it.And, of course, I like WOWUI a great deal - there is some room for improvement, it's not as lightweight as some other sites, like Wowhead, but it's by far the best one I've found. Addons are pretty much up to date (with a few exceptions), community is mature and smart, and something I find very important - addon previews are almost always present (as opposed to Curse, where I feel like a lottery winner if I find a screenshots of an addon).Definitely looking forward to getting this Minion.
I can't wait to ditch the Curse client.I just hope authors opt to upload their stuff to WoWInterface and not just Curse.
<3 Cairenn!Post more often :)
grim works for wowmatrix, ignore him
hu!i never heard of this programm only tell now:D but i use curse.com and i think people use it because its very easy to be used and very papular and know'n :S
I'm very happy to see this, although I like(d) curse, the premium restrictions are more than I'm willing to suffer, I'm fine to look at adds, but restricting the processes of the loader itself is too much. Not to mention I'm not willing to drop $30 a year for something that only somewhat assists a game I pay $15 a month for. So it's like adding two additional months so I can get 3 addons to install at a time instead of 1. Not happening.I visit WoWUI all the time to find addons hat often don't appear on Curse, so I see this as a welcome change.
woohooo, cant wait for it!Curse is bad..just...bad... it deleted half my addons! ! >.<good thing i had a backup of wow >_>hope Minion will turn out great, successful and user friendly.
The wait is finally over! Thank you Cairenn, and I will be there beta testing with bells on... 8)
Looks rather good, very tempted to try it to avoid the annoyance of updates every few weeks, only worry would be security...
Wowmatrix is dead. Thank you for this.
