Abilities:

Charge: 8-25 yard range. 9-15k damage when you get hit
Whirlwind: Smacks everything nearby for a lot of damage... it 1hit a warrior in my group 3 times in 1 attempt...
AoE fear: Just fears you around, stand far back to avoid being feared and pull boss far back too to avoid ninja pulling.

Tactic that worked for us when killing him:

Keep the ranged DPS and healer standing at max range while the melee DPS stands directly ontop of him (Keep melee topped up on health)
Crowd control one or both adds, but if you cannot CC them both nuke one down, they can heal.
Oh yeah, you can run in to this fight while it's still going on so dead people can come back to fight him :D

Aside from that it's tank and spank but he smacks very hard so keep tank above 20k health to avoid him being burst down

Some additional anecdotal evidence from a newly-minted 80 Prot warrior:

Charge hits for roughly 20-30% on non-tanks and can be healed through. It requires LoS as well as the aforementioned range so if you're melee heavy you can have the tank hold Stoutbeard around the corner and only the healer will be charged.
His whirlwind hit for 8k on plate and should be avoided by melee DPS.

I believe that Kolurg spawns for Alliance groups in heroic mode while Stoutbeard spawns for Horde groups. Both have (I think) identical abilities and loot.

His whirlwind doesn't deal damage until the cast bar finishes. If your melee and tank are really on the ball watching for it, they can strafe away in time for it to not hit them, though it will take practice to get, and even a bit of luck most of the time.

How far away do you have to be to not get hit by his WW? Because last night, I pulled and run back, he started to WW when i was still running and I was a good 15-20 yards and he still hit me for around 8k... very annoying.

STRAT FOR KILLING COMMANDER STOUTBEARD

Our group was: 2xPally (tank and healz)
1xDK (off tank)
1xMage
1xRogue

Only one CC will be needed and should be placed on one of the adds (clerics).

The MT pulls the boss all the way back to the enterence of the room, near the hallway. The OT will tank one add right where they are standing before they've been pulled. The dps will take down the adds first. (in order of course, since one will be cc'd).

The purpose is to seperate the adds from boss to keep the healz off the boss, and whirlwinds and charges away from the majority of the group.

The one problem with this strat is the fear. This is where we wished we had a shammy. Sometimes the tank will get feared near the rest of the group, and then the boss whirlwinds and we wipe... Wasn't much we could do in that instance after bubbles are gone

After the adds are down, all dps can then resume dpsing the boss.

DPS - to help the healer, every 3 seconds of dps, you should run away from the boss because a whirlwind will soon follow. Don't bother watching for the cast bar cuz by then its already to late. Hit the boss a couple times, then run away...rinse and repeat until the boss is dead.

Healer - Stand behind the casting dps...use them as a human shield to protect yourself from the charge.

Tank - just try to hold the boss in one spot. The more you keep him still, the better. After the fears, run him back to his spot which is near the hallway, in the enterence of the room.

He generally has 2 priests with him who will heal him as well as each other. It helps if you CC one of them while having DPS blow up the other. Make sure the tank is isolated with the boss since he has a nasty whirlwind that will basically one shot any clothie. He also has a fear and a random charge so be ready for that.

In the normal version of this instance there will spawn an Alliance Commander instead of him.

This room seems to be a homage to Everquest. The NPCs there are old EQ classes - ranger, berserker, cleric, etc.

As many people are still fleshing out their WotLK / Northrend content in this starting zone, or even trying to wrangle some Accord du Repos du ver reputation, I felt this mini-guide would be extremely helpful to new and experienced players alike. It should be noted that the majority of these quests count towards Ma tendre toundra which also leads one towards . =^)

These quest series begin by discovering a Fragment scintillant (right-click on this item in the player's bags), dropping from one of the Lieur de sort de Frimarras, which then starts the first quest chain .
*Player note: Do not confuse the Lieur de sort de Frimarras (humanoids) with Tisse-sort de Frimarras (which are dragonkin)*

Bizarre… which after turning in to Raelorasz at the Transitus Shield gives players...

La cellule where you search for two other fragments of an arcane prison (Armature de la prison / Noyau énergétique. Items acquired at this point become Prison arcanique améliorée upon turn-in.
*Player note: Both items are found only on the two blue dragon micro-bosses (Général Céruléan / Porteguerre Draksang) in the center of the blue round magic circles outside of the Le Nexus fissures.*

Here it appears this chain ends, but actually continues on in a 2nd chain. If you lose your Prison arcanique améliorée at any time, speak to Raelorasz at the Transitus Shield for a free replacement.
*Player note: Just be certain that it wasn't placed in the bank during a side trip, as there aren't any banks within a large portion of this zone (including the Hold). If he doesn't automagically give you the option to replace it, try clicking the "What is the cause of this conflict?" to bring it up.*

Upon right-clicking Prison arcanique améliorée, player then releases Keristrasza who then begs for assistance to confront Malygos by talking to her once the player is ready for the Le Nexus raid zone.

Keristrasza allows players to speak to her again to continue the chain.
*Player note: If she somehow gets lost or the player drops the quest, it is best advised to go just outside of the Shield and summon her for each next quest, as other locations sometimes quest error or are incorrect areas.*

Appâter le dragon has players collect 10 Éclat de mana cristallisés (which are the pink crystal plants all over Coldarra) to make bait to beat his blue dragon guardian, Saragosa human form / Saragosa (dragon non-quest form). Pretty self-explanatory, just turn them in when done, any extras can be safely deleted.

Once collected she calls for La fin de Saragosa and gives players a Focalisateur de puissance arcanique with which to bait Saragosa and drag back Cadavre de Saragosa for another quest.
*Player note: When ready, talk to Keristrasza by using the Prison arcanique améliorée and she will teleport the player to Saragosa's platform up way above. Use the Focalisateur de puissance arcanique to summon her and she'll arrive in dragon form then change to human form for the fight. When dead, call Keristrasza and turn in the quest, accept the next quest and stop talking to her. Speak to her again for a FREE teleport back down to the ground for the next turn-in.*

Rassembler les rouges is where she asks players to carry her to Raelorasz back at Transitus Shield (in the Prison). Turn it in!

Raelorasz then wants players to start Déclencher le piège by using Etincelle de Raelorasz to light a signal fire on some bundles of wood to the northwest of the Nexus at coords 25.5, 22.
*Player note still valid by user beachboy:
1. Open your map. Move your character so that the arrow representing your position is directly above the "N" and to the left of "The" in "The Nexus" on the map. The bundle of wood you have to light is outside, in the snow.
2. Light the bundle of wood using the item provided to you, Etincelle de Raelorasz.
3. Take your hands off your keyboard and mouse, sit back, and enjoy the show. After a few minutes of NPC dialog and a scene where you ride a dragon, you should complete the quest. You do not have to do ANYTHING.
4. Turn in the quest at Transitus Shield.*

Finally Raelorasz asks the player to lay to rest the corrupted aspect of the Prisonnière de guerre, Keristrasza, which shows her as insane probably due to being forced to become Malygos's new consort. Could also explain Cœur brisé de Keristrasza
*Player note: Players will have to defeat all of the bosses in the Le Nexus in order to be able to finally release Keristrasza's corrupted aspect. Each boss is connected to one of the three click-able spheres to release her (Grand magus Telestra=Sphère de confinement / Anomalus=Sphère de confinement / Ormorok le Sculpte-Arbre=Sphère de confinement). Proven exception is the Commandant de la Horde and Commandant de l'Alliance, which are trash bosses that can be skipped, though Heroic replacements Commandant Rudebarbe and Commandant Kolurg have blue gear loot.*

FINAL NOTE: Killing each of the bosses in the Le Nexus yields MULTI-FACTION REPUTATION! For advice on defeating Keristrasza then Click Here. Also Grand magus Telestra drops the item Chapeau d'hiver rouge for those trying to collect it and the achieve for the holidays.

His map picture is bugged. I was farming Nexus and thought he was just another mob. I open my map later and see him as a boss, make my way there, and he's dead but it doesn't show defeated on the map
