These seem like they can be killed. Today while running VP all of the dps together were able to damage it faster than it could heal itself (100k every 10 seconds, I think), so with high enough sustainable dps (ie. rogue, warlock, feral druid, hunter) I don't see any problems with downing one.

I convinced my group to kill one, it does gain like 100k every 5-10 seconds, but the funny thing is, it doesn't drop any loot. It doesn't even have a corpse, it just dissapates. So basically just attack it to stop the AoE knockback and walk by. No point in killing it.

You WILL still gain rep for killing these mobs, though no more than any other mob kills.

One day when I was doing VP with a random dungeon-finder group, we had a bit of time to spare while waiting for a new teammate to queue in after one member quit. We were right by the Howling Gales, and we decided to fight one "just for fun" even though we knew they couldn't actually be killed. I took a screenshot when we got it down to under 100k HP... a few seconds later, we killed it. We were all surprised, and all thought it was pretty cool.

I uploaded the aforementioned screenshot, just waiting for it to be approved. (The guidelines for uploading screenshots say they shouldn't include any onscreen text or UI elements when possible... but I want to show that we actually got its HP down so low, especially since they don't leave corpses to even take a screenshot of. Plus, I generally don't press alt-z to hide the UI when I'm fighting because I need to see the health bars, chat text, all my abilities & items int he taskbars that aren't bound to hotkeys).

Confirmed, can be death gripped... Also if you do same while they're active with their wind power? Well... Let's just say you'll probably get knocked into Mr Young Storm Dragon.

This is probably on the main dungeon wowhead page, but to get through a howling gale as a priest, you must use a spell that you don't need to channel (since you can't walk and cast at the same time). I tried to use a spell that channels, but it by the time it finished the gale bounced me back. Each gale has to be targeted and hit separately. Like they said above, the object is not to kill, just to distract them.

Monk's Crackling Jade Lightning does not work on these since the spell is a channeled spell. Any of the Tier 2 healing abilities do work. Will attempt other abilities on future runs through the instance.

As Brewmaster Monk, bring out Xuen the White Tiger and hit Gale with Crackling Jade Lightning just to assign Xuen a target. Then, use Paralysis on first one to make him stop attacking and hit second one with Crackling Jade Lightning.

Somewhat amusing trivia. A Terracotta Warrior ties up a gate for everybody - and just sits there without losing health for his 10 minute duration - waste of a trinket tho ..... Also a priest Shadowfiend seems to do the job ...

I've been running Vortex Pinnacle over and over on my rogue, and recently found that you can use Cape d'ombre to completely ignore these, saving a few precious seconds.

Since their knockback is a targeted ability (instead of being some sort of constant AOE), you can simply run right past them along the edge of the bridge as a level 100. They're grey and won't aggro you, and thus they won't knock you back.

How does a Monk get across these in timewalking:heroic mode?

As a WW monk, I was unable to roll and jab or kick (knocked out), nor flying serpent kick, nor Crackling Jade Lightening. I just read in the comments that tier 2 healing would work, but apparently that was before the Legion pre-patch as there are no healing talents in tier 2 anymore.

I'm stumped, any suggestions?

Rênes de drake du vent du Nord mount drops from Altairus in the La cime du Vortex on either difficulty.
La cime du Vortex Entrance Uldum /Way 76.7, 84.4
Altairus is the second boss followed after Grand vizir Ertan
I obtained the mount after 84 attempts farming it on/off for months.

For rouges trying to get past these, Pas de l’ombre to the first one, attack it, then pop Cape d'ombre and Sprint past the second.
