What a great collection! I already had the chest and legs models saved to attempt to turn into a RP set one day, but found it hard to find well matching plate boots/gloves/shoulders.
I just wanted to add that I find Demonslayer to be one of many well matching weapons for this set (especially if you can dual-wield them.)

If you're a plate-wearer wielding a mace, Bludstone Hammer is a perfect match for this set.

The mace matches the red and black of this set exactly... Great for a holy pally wielding a mace.

I think the best matching belt is Chaîne de la rage libérée , which is sold in Shatt for JP.

Another great pair of gear pieces for this set are Spallières de démence and Heaume de l'exécuteur. They give this set some more edge via the spikes and still match the black and red scheme.

For the cloak, I went with Cape de guerre de chevalier de sang (130 justice points)
If you want something a little flashier, Cape d'empressement arcanique (312 justice points)

Death knights: Ceinturon de chevalier d'Achérus is an invisible belt. Also Chaperon de chevalier d'Achérus looks pretty good with this set. Both items can be purchased for less than a silver each from Intendant Ozorg.

Got the Spallières de démence and the Le Protecteur de l'exarque while farming pieces for another set and was looking for something to compliment those two pieces. I think the rest of this set will do nicely. Not sure which one of my plate wearers will use and may have to farm the shoulders again but no worries.

To get most reciepies for your Blacksmith (BS) you need to get exalted with Thorium Brotherhood.

Friendly = Dark Iron Bracers, which you don't need for the transmog set.
Honered = DI Helm, DI Destroyer (one-hand axe) and DI Reaver (one-hand sword).
Revered = DI Leggings, DI Gauntlets (hands), Black Amnesty (dagger), Blackfury (Pole-arm).
Exalted = DI Boots, Ebon Hand (one-hand mace), Blackguard (one-hand sword)

Keep the dark iron residue that drops in BRD.
You need it to get from Revered to Exalted.
Don't turn in your Fiery Core to level your rep, you need it later for your BS.
The questlines in Searing Gorge are enough to get you to Revered.
After that you can use the DI residue that dropped in BRD to get to Exalted.

The Dark Iron Plate is a drop from Ribbly Screwspigot, who's in the Grim Guzzler.
If you talk to him he attacks you with his group. It's a 46% dropchance, farming Dark Ore in BRD gives you plenty of time to get it. It's a bop, so it can't be bought on the AH.

After several rounds in BRD I finally had enough dark iron to make the shoulders. I went there again with my Warrior BS. It's easy to get there btw, just go in, take the mol that get you past the Grim Guzzler (the bar in BRD) and jump of the ledge down on the path below were Lord Incendius is.

I was at the anvil in BRD and almost hit the create button, looked for a last time at the pattern and realized that I've seen that one before. Somewhere in my DK's inventory. I used carbonite to look it up and found the Darkcrest Pauldrons, and they are the exact same pattern. You need some luck with those, they drop in Hellfire Ramparts and The Blood Furnace with low droprates, but they are greens and can be bought on the AH. It will save you some farming for black iron ore.

I allready found the Fists of Phalanx, which can be use instead of the Dark Iron Gauntlets. They have the same look, just are smaller around the arms. I think those look better, but that's just my taste. The fist drop from Phalanx (34% droprate), a miniboss in the BRD, so that should be easy if you already farm there for dark iron ore. He's the bouncer in the Grim Guzzler. Give Private Rocknot a few (6) dark iron ale. He's gone drink some more, doesn't pay the bill and Phalanx will agro. The ale can be bought from Plugger Spazzring. 6 ale worked everytime, so don't buy 10.

Unless you are a Blacksmith you cant use the Harnois en sombrefer because it is BoP. But Corselet trempé au feu d'enfer looks exactly the same and is available for JP's. Also the Cape sang-de-dragon looks nice with the set, the slight contrast sets it off I think. I am also using Le sabre sinistre du Cavalier for my weapon, I think it gives the set just the right amount of bling. I'm really glad I saved this from Hallow's End.

I've just crafted this set and I decided to go with: 2x Nightfall and the Tabard of the Wyrmrest Accord to match up with the axes. This was the closest tabard I could get with black & red as Alliance.

Paladins on the Horde side have the amazing Blood Knight Tabard which is perfect or any Horde can get Thrallmar Tabard or Dragonmaw Tabard.

I've submitted a screenshot with a core hound pup for added awesomeness.

i thought it worth mentioning, for those who cant get the Archmage's Guile which was posted above, because you dont have the rep with outdated content and dont wanna farm it. if you're prot, and need to transmog a 1h sword, the Mercenary Blade looks pretty awesome with this set, and i found it on the AH for 2g lol, it comes with a random enchant, which, doesnt really matter if you're transmogging it, and its low level green, pretty common on the AH, so you dont have to go farming for it! i dont know how to link to what it looks like here or i would, sorry

lol, i changed my mind already! i went through my BS patterns, and found Savage Cobalt Slicer. if you like a big mean looking sword, a lil different with not too much flash, then check out what it looks like atleast, its mean lookin lol

I nearly completed my set this past weekend for my fury warrior. Here's what I used:

I also plan on using Heaume en sombrefer however this item is proving difficult to obtain.
Using Brassards en sombrefer is personal choice. Most current bracers will be concealed by the gauntlets and not disrupt the look of this set.

Looks best with
War Paint Cloak or Ironhide Cloak although they are random drops so you have to get lucky on AH.
The colours match better than Blood Knight War Cloak IMO

heres my list of alternate gear other than what is listed or the dark iron set.I made everything then bought the gloves with jp an thats when i saw and remembered the amani mask of death so i bought it!
head- Masque funéraire amani love this cuz it's awesome
2hand sword- Sul'thraze la Flagellante i love this sword cuz its oldschool and the purple hues tie into the headpiece too, or the best would be Corruption for smiths
back- Cape de noctambule this one looks better imo cuz it's not too dark and blends best
belt- Ceinturon de Rochefroide hey it looks great and it's cheap
shirt- Riche chemise violette en soie cuz its purple and we all know purps are epic! (you can't see it though ;p)

I finished to collect this set right yesterday with my warrior.
I preferred to craft this set by myself instead of buying items in AH... just because I have tons of free time atm lol.

First of all you need to be Exalted with Confrérie du thorium.
This is the easiest part even for a lvl 56/60. To accomplish this task I suggest first to do all the quests you find in Gorge des Vents brûlants. You can find these quests in Grimesilt Dig Site, Thorium Point and Iron Summit areas signed on the map. I reached Revered by doing these quests.
Next I bought some cheap (from 10 to 15 golds in AH) Noyau de feu and Noyau de lave. These cores are needed for Faveur auprès de la Confrérie, Noyau de feu and Faveur auprès de la Confrérie, Noyau de lave, you can find Lokhtos Sombrescompte, the quest giver and the Thorium Brotherhood's Quartermaster, in Blackrock Depths. For further details you can read the comments in the Faction and the Quartermaster pages.

Next step is to bring your Blacksmithing profession to 300. I'm not telling here and now how to train your BS :P

Well... cheer, because now comes the hardest part of this task :P
You need to Gather all the materials!

I'll list all the mats you need in order to craft this set (made up by seven pieces of armor):

Barre de sombrefer x60 -> each bar is made up by 8 Minerai de sombrefer (this means you need 240 ores)
Noyau de feu x16
Noyau de lave x18
Cœur de feu x9
Cuir du Magma x8

You can find these in Cœur du Magma or in your local Auction House.
I helped myself with another toon (a lvl 85 with Mining) and I farmed a dozen of times thrash mobs in Molten Core.

I found, as cloak, Cape sans pareille to fit quite well. It also add an old and dusty look :P
Also, as my warrior is a human tank and then a one-handed-sword user, I bought from Lokhtos Sombrescompte Plans : Garde noire to craft this stunning sword: Garde noire.

Here is an item comparison link to my version of this which includes my tank weapon/shield and dps weapon xmogs along with a back that matches fairly well. I also included my choice of tabard.

Although I think Grande cape infatigable matches better, I have not yet purchased it. I also plan to purchase the valor point helm, Mâchoire de répudiation , as I think it is much better with this xmog set. Both items are included in the item comparison below so you can switch them out and see how the look.

for a cloak that fits perfectly, buy Cape de guerre de chevalier de sang from the same vendor.

If you are a warrior/paladin, here are two amazing weapons that fit:
1) Guerroyante(World drop in Vanilla zones, so possibly hard to get.)
2) Exécuteur d'obsidium (you can buy this off of your AH for usually a few hundred gold, and it looks amazing as well)

My frost DK is currently rocking the gear from G'eras, plus Warmaul Epaulets and Warmaul Helmet. I was previously using Polished Obsidian Pauldrons, which matched very well, but I like the Warmaul shoulders better.

I'm not thrilled with the helm choices. I feel like the black colors of dark iron helm and warmaul helm are off from the rest of this stuff.

I'm also using Felsteel Longbladex2. Over the back sheath + decent color match + katana = win.

In addition, it comes in a 1H variety in Estramaçon des rêves atroces, and drops from Marmon (normal drop) , the last boss of Shadow Labyrinth

The maces that people have said go well with this set i absolutely hate with a passion, they're tacky and hideous. Marteau pierre-de-sang for example. I think that Main d'ébène goes better with the set. It's a basic mace but it looks better then Bludstone....

Hi everyone - I just noticed that there are several pieces of a recolor for this set floating around. They all share sort of a cream/silver skin and appear to use the same models as the Dark Iron Plate set. Shoulders, gloves, belt, legs and boots:

I know bracers are often overlooked in transmog, but when I killed Lord Incendius to gain access to the Black Anvil I looted Emberplate Armguards by chance. They add a really nice red ring above the gloves that matches the red on the rest of the set. Definitely worth trying to get.

Also, Fel Iron Greatsword is pure win with the set.

I'm finishing up my set. It was complete but I accidentally got rid of the gauntlets so I'm remaking them. The dark iron set is amazing except for the helm (to me). I use colossal dragonplate helm and drape of fuming anger for the cloak.

Ashkandi, Greatsword of the Brotherhood (from Nefarion in BWL) looks amazing for a 2 handed sword as does Cataclysm's Edge (drops off archimonde in hyjal summit).
For a 2-handed axe I prefer Draconic Avenger (bwl, drops off death talon wyrmguards).

Any suggestions for a good shield to use this stuff with my tank set? And if anybody on alexstrasza is in need of these items I can craft the full set.

For a 2-handed mace Porte-haine fits pretty cool.
Also, Casque cogneguerre is a good alternative to Heaume en sombrefer, it has different model but uses the same colors. Some people may prefer this one over original helm from the set.

if youre making this for youre alt characters for transmog, keep in mind that Harnois en sombrefer IS Bind on Pickup, dont make the same mistake as me and waste 20 Dark iron bars.

If you are level 90 just do a couple of HCs and you will save a bunch of dark iron, 6 pieces including a cloak are from a cheap JP vendor.

This set (apart from the helm and bracers) uses the Black variant of the D2 Plate artwork. Including the unlisted matching bracers (see below) it forms six pieces of a seven-piece set of the art. Only the belt is missing.

The set bracers currently use the wrong artwork. There are bracers that use the same artwork and colour, Protège-bras noircis. They'd usually be hidden anyway. The listed bracers sit higher up which makes them visible and, I think, look a bit off.

There is set art for the missing belt, but sadly it doesn't look like it's available. If it existed it'd look a lot like Ceinturon de Profanateur en plaques in style, but in strong red with a black centre band.

There actually isn't any set art for a helm. The set one uses unrelated artwork. If you don't like it, see the Bloodknight D2 and Black D4 sets listed below for other possible black-and-red helm options.

Of the listed pieces, note that a few have different shapes to the core set pieces, in case you prefer them:

Shoulders: Espauliers en obsidienne polie & Epaulières de méca-techno are two-tier. Spallières d'acier ébène are butterflied. Épaulettes cogneguerre are more triangular
Chest: Tunique familiale du Cœur-fendu (quest reward) has shorter sleeves
Hands: Poings de Phalange are more form-fitting than the set gloves

As for related sets...

There are four other colours of the D2 Plate artwork in the database. All have at least a few pieces in the game, but sadly none in significant amounts, except for Gold. See:

Gold: Zandalari Freethinker's Plate
Copper: Just shoulders, leggings and boots. No transmog page, see this link for appearance and list of pieces
Green (officially 'Bronze'): just shoulders and gloves. No transmog page, see this link for appearance and list of pieces
Silver: just gloves, leggings and a LOT of belts. No transmog page, see this link for appearance and list of pieces. Silver is also the only D2 colour to have helm art, but sadly the only two examples have been removed from the game: Heaume de l'avant-garde & Seau de tête des mers du Sud

In addition, a "Bloodknight" recolour of the D2 Plate set was created. It has a lot of similarities to this set, but a much stronger colouring, as well as completely different head and shoulder art:

Finally, the D4 Plate artwork is very similar to the D2, except for the helm and shoulders, which have a horned / spiked style to them. There are only two colour variants, neither of which has more than a few pieces in the game, sadly. See:

As someone with a blood elf pally, I wanted to make a blood knight set for transmog. I found that this set with a few modifications makes a near perfect set for a blood knight. Note that I'm using as many quest item as possible, as they're easier to obtain then farming for justice.

Épaulettes cogneguerre - I found these better than the standard shoulders for a blood elf, just because of the angle. The normal ones look rather odd on a BE.

well i used the Bludstone hammer and the gladiators shield from area 52 for protection transmog and ashkandi,greatsword of the brotherhood for retribution (im a paladin) this is how my character turned out: http://eu.battle.net/wow/en/character/silvermoon/Shortbob/simple (i dont wear a tabard but the site is delayed)

I'm currently rocking the Destroyer Armor (Recolor) on my Unholy DK.

However, I noticed this set just screams Blood DK, which is what I use on my off-spec, if you use:

Cloak: Voile de sang d'assombrisseur des cieux or Cape du vide néantin

Helm: Ventaille de détermination

Weapon: Ashkandi, estramaçon de la Confrérie

IM using this set with Tombe-nuit for my weapon and Heaume du gladiateur fatal en plaques d'effroi as my Helm with Voile de sang d'assombrisseur des cieux as my back For My Blood Dk Set. I think it looks quite good.

I've almost finished my Blood Knight set using various ideas extracted from this thread, plus a few of my own. I originally used the Ventaille de détermination for that classic BK look, but the new transmog Helm Chaperon des ténèbres affamées looks awesome as well!

Shoulders: After trying both, I agree with brenthebli that for Blood Elves the angle of the Épaulettes cogneguerre looks better than the original Epaulières en sombrefer style.

Bracers: I substituted Emberplate Armguards at the suggestion weezycarter for the Brassards en sombrefer. It shows a little extra red band above the gauntlets that IMHO adds a nice look.

Belt: Thanks to brenthebli again, this time for recommending the Ceinturon gobelin. It is a great match!

For the rest:

As a BE Pally, the Tabard de chevalier de sang was an obvious choice. If this is not an option for you, another tabard that looks well with this set is the Sunreaver Tabard (or the Sureaver Onslaught Tabard), although these will add some gold and "brighten up" the black and red style.

I will cast my vote with several others who have pointed out the 2H Estramaçon en gangrefer looks fantastic with this set. For those who use a MH and shield, I found that the Marteau en rubidium and any of the Gladiator's Shield Wall variants look great too.

By the way: If you have the Headless Horseman's Mount, its black coat and red trappings work very well with this set.

Finally, the cloak. I found it hard to locate something that really fit. The Ancient Bloodmoon Cloak "sort of" works, but... I finally realized that there is an equivalent to the DK Voile de sang d'assombrisseur des cieux, the Cape de parangon cramoisi. It hasn't dropped for me yet, but hope springs eternal. :)

By sheer luck I looted the Eternium Greathelm in Karahzan and tried it on before vendoring it. Ended up exactly what I wanted to match my Dark Iron xmog.

Drops off one of the bosses in the Opera fight.

Both boots models from the set are glitchy on male human chars. When running their edges stick through the full model cloaks like Blood Knight War Cloak as you can see here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=fdiYr3ePipI#t=35 . Using this one solves it for me as the bug is hardly noticeable with this cloak and it looks good with the set. I do not know if the bug is present in any other races or female humans.
The Dark Iron Shoulders are glitchy as well but this time on male Orcs - http://imgur.com/zFAMqYe .
As for a belt I have another suggestion that goes well with the set in my opinion - Boulderfist Belt or Darkcrest Belt both look the same.

I believe that Spaulders of Dementia and Helm of the Executioner along with The Gleaming Ravager would be awesome for Arms/Fury spec.

Just something of note. With 6.0, all 2h can now be transmogged into each other, meaning that Terokk's Quill is a very viable weapon look for this set, regardless of the 2h weapon you are using :D

an awesome cloak for this would be Drapé de la colère furibonde. if you are horde you can also try to loot this from Icehowl as Cape du prédateur indompté they are cosmetically identical.

The very best waist/belt match for this plate set is Chain of Unleashed Rage sold by G'eras in Shattrath. For two-handed weapons (or Warrior TG dual wield) the Fel Iron Greatsword matches perfectly.

Good 2h sword for this would be Doombringer, and if you're like me and like your hair, a good alternate helm would be Faceguard of Determination.

Most of this set (excluding bracers and shoulders) can be bought from G'eras the purple Naaru in Shattrath.
The Chaîne de la rage libérée is also sold by said Naaru, but I prefer the Ceinture sombrecrête of the Bloodfist Plate (Recolor) set.

Shield Grand pavois de gladiateur can be bought for 750 honor points from Kezzik le Frappeur in Area 52, Netherstorm.

I'm sure you have your own preference for weapons. For one hander Sabre de la marche de l'Ouest is my Alliance-only pick, Garde noire is my Neutral pick.
For Two-hander Epée d'exécuteur is my pick, which is Neutral.

The following matching weapons are Faction Neutral and added for ideas.

completed it with the Casque cogneguerre + Épaulettes cogneguerre

I don't know who composed this set's page, but there are at least 3 mistakes:
1) The helm uses different model artwork and is not part of the set; there is no helm for this particular colouration of the set.
2) Same goes for the shoulders — the correct shoulder model for this set is Mantelet de l'Expédition.
3) And, finally, the bracers are completely wrong — there are matching bracers for this set's artwork, and they are Protège-bras illidari.

And yes, I understand that shoulders, bracers and helm have "Dark Iron" in the name, but transmogrification pages are about armor artwork, not the names. You don't see Épaulettes de conquérant on the page of Conqueror's Plate, do you? No, you don't. And you shouldn't see Dark Iron Helm's, Dark Iron Bracers' and Dark Iron Shoulders' model on this transmog set.
