Note for history buffs, this set was pretty standard for tank DKs in early Lich King. Even when they got access to Naxx purples, this set stuck around because each piece had more Defense Rating (a deprecated stat, but once vital for tanks) than a comparable crafted or Naxxramas epic. The hilarious result was a lot of tanks refusing to roll on epics because they needed to keep their Defense Rating above 540.

This was sort- of fixed when Blizz realized the Tempered Titansteel Helm was supposed to have sockets, and then the release of Ulduar finally brought epics with higher Defense Rating.

This set uses the Red (officially "Black") variant of the "Northrend B1 Plate" artwork and forms a complete eight-piece set of the art.

There are only two other colours of this artwork in the database and both are available as complete eight-piece sets. See:

I use the Cloak of the Royal Protector with this set. Matches it quite well.

I also use the Impervious Giant as it looks good, is not overly flashy and it's not ludicrously big. =)

I paired this set with Cape de l'éclaireur and Hache d'élagage du marais. There were some similar axe models that I considered, but the colors go perfectly together.

For the tanks, I've found a coordinating, easily obtainable one-hand sword and shield:

Not mentioned here, but the four Mightstone pieces - helm, shoulders, chest and legs - that you get as quest rewards can be used for this set as well.

My transmog pieces with this one are:

Head: Armet ancien en fer or Réplique du heaume pandashan (different art style, but gives the smaller shoulders a good balance).
Belt: Ceinture vicieuse en pyrium
Boots: I don't like the big "calf-clamp" boots, so I switched them out for Bottes vicieuses en pyrium
Cloak: Cape de guerre de chevalier de sang
Weapon: I don't like axes with this set, so I stick to swords, either Ashkandi, estramaçon de la Confrérie or Lame à tranchant d'obsidienne. Despite being a bit anemic-looking, Fureur noire works if you're stuck with a polearm.

Alternate Shoulders: Spallières ornementées de croisé

If you, like me, hate stove-pipe boots, Grèves de l'intensité de fer are a great looking replacement for the set boots that match precisely, color-wise.

I love this set. This is my UH Death Knight's mog right now. With it, I use the appearance for Tak'theritrix's Shoulderpads, which is a DK legendary from Legion. So cool with the tongues that come out of the toothy maw. Also, I use the Reinforced Headgun for the head, and the Girdle of Ripped Space for my belt. and for my 2 hander, I use Kalimdor's Revenge. I think the colors are perfect.
