Edit: since the comeback of strength polearms, and the ability to mog between all 2-handed weapons, I am proud to present an alternative I will be using starting tomorrow (patch 6.0): Pique du gladiateur vicieux.

For the best 1 hand transmogrification, try Averse de grêle x2, looks beautiful, in addition to that, I put together an item comparison, including everything. http://www.wowhead.com/compare?items=90053:90051:90055:90049:90050:90054:90056:90052:40491:40491#. though it does seem as though the Averse de grêle does look quite messed up, just so you get the idea :)

Contrary to what the "view in 3d" button shows. for gnomes your ears do NOT poke through the helmet. I was worried about this because it looks awful, but the ears are correctly hidden in-game.

The animation procs from /wave, /roar and /cheer aswell as when casting certain spells or using certain attacks (howling blast procs it, but death coil does not.)

the helm, shoulders and belt are the only pieces that have the animation. and you don't need to be wearing all of them to see it. each one has its own animation, you could wear a totally different transmog set but keep the glowy belt for example

In case you didn't like the helm there's an option, you can use Heaume du gladiateur cataclysmique en plaques d'effroi, in my opinion it's a flawless replacement for the original helm.

If only there was a red version as the helm looks very much like Hade's helm from God of War. Would fit the blood spec of Deathknights. But i guess a frosty look will do, sweet all the same.

The MoP (Death Knight) Challenge Mode transmog set is going to be no longer available with the release of the Warlords of Draenor pre-launch event patch, or slightly before then.

The reasoning for removal of the sets is summarized by Bashiok on the WoW forums:

The short of it is, Challenge Mode is based on it being a challenge with current mechanics and, lots of mechanics will be changing in the pre-expansion patch.

I've been looking at tabard options for this set for my Death Knight, but wasn't willing to spend ~100k or so it would cost to purchase Tabard du porteur de Lumière. Here are a few cheaper options:

Horde:
Tabard de bataille loup-de-givre
Tabard de croisé d'argent
Tabard des cieux estivaux

Alliance:
Tabard du Concordat argenté
Tabard de Hurlevent
Tabard des cieux estivaux

There are a few other blue-ish options but the above are probably the easiest to obtain and match the set pretty well.

For Dual Wield frost, I think Cimeterre des Sept étoiles fits this set perfectly, same color as the bones on the center, same icy color of the glows, and the sword looks fine with the enchant glows of FC and Razorice

Gong-Lu, Force de Xuen is the best cloak so far, I think.

If you are not owner of legendary cloak and looking for good cloak to transmog for this set, this is the best choice Cape de pergélisol dropped by Al'Akir in Trône des quatre vents on all raid size and difficulty. After you kill Al'Akir in the middle of air a Cœur du vent will spawn which contains loot (saying this for people that haven't been in Tot4w before).

Weapon is Lame d'épuration de Ramaladni contained in Cache du porte-mort that spawn after you kill Porte-mort Saurcroc in Citadelle de la Couronne de glace 10 man heroic difficulty only.

Estramaçon de la lésion cardiaque is probably the best matching weapon I have found for this set. It is one of the most fitting, if not the most fitting sword for a DK and the fact that it goes so well with this set is just gravy.

I found that the Shadowsage Cloak matches this set almost perfectly. It's a green item that's picked up easily on the AH.

For DKs that have this set, this is probably the best helmet replacement you can use Heaume du gladiateur cataclysmique en plaques d'effroi.

It matches set even better than original one in my opinion.
