2 solutions s'offrent à vous, les 2 sont simples (perso j'ai utilisé les deux), tout provient des commentaires anglais, mais c'est un peu fouillis, donc je fais un résumé pour le niveau 70.

Apparemment avant c'était très difficile car buggé, mais j'ai réussi au 1er essai.

1. Lancez le combat contre Athanos, peu importe la difficulté, mais je vous recommande Courage, peu importe votre lien d'âme, mais je recommande Mikanikos.

Une fois le combat lancé, ciblé Athanos, tapez dans votre barre de texte : /adieu
Dès que l'émote Athanos vous fait au revoir. Adieu !, lancez immédiatement après l'émote, mais logiquement si vous avez installé correctement la WeakAura, ça le fera automatiquement.

The only interaction I can recall, is at the near start of the Bastion campaign when this guy basically destroys you! I'll have to send and alt to see if he waves afterwards.

Athanos waves goodbye at you while elimating you with a massive charge in the path of ascension. I tried to wave back at him with /goodbye while falling hoping for a secret achievement but that did not turn out to be the case.

EDIT: seems like a well timed /wave into /goodbye does the trick after he waves goodbye at you, whille spamming proved to be useless for me.

Have just gotten this achievement.
I was using Mekanikos (should work with any other), and was on the simplest difficulty (Trial of Courage).

Athanos waves you a goodbye when you get knocked off the platform after he charges at you. Power Swing ability doesn't seem to trigger it.

Here's the way I did it. I created two macros:
/wave
/goodbye
And bound them to two buttons (Alt-1 and Alt-2 for instance). The second macro seems to be the correct one, although it needs to be tested, I can't recall which one gave me the achievement.

You might want to test you bound everything right before you start the fight: try to press the according buttons while you're inside Pelagos or whatever fighter you've chosen. If you see emotes, you're almost done.

Start the fight, go close to the edge of the arena, dodge the Power Swing a couple of times and then don't dodge the Massive Charge and let Athanos knock you off. As soon as he grabs you, start spamming your macros until you fall off. On the way down, you should see an achievement popping :)

I've noticed he did goodbye/wave on me even if he kicked me out with power swing, but this happened only twice, not on every power swing.

I was able to do this on PTR as Mikanikos with a /wave after his power swipe and I was able to do it on live with Kleia after a massive charge with a /wave. Below is a link on how I did it and you can see the emotes and the achievement pop. I hope this helps.

After over 500 attempts I gave up on this achievement, must be bugged for some.

Edit: I tried a few more times and I finally got it, I did /wave before Athanos did wave goodbye and I /goodbye after Athanos did wave goodbye.

Hello guys, is this supposed to award points? In game it appears like a "Fos", which doesn't award points, that is fine to me but I am answering because in game my achievements as of today are currently 27325, while on my armory (everything updated) it shows 27315, I went through all my achievements and everything is fine, so my only doubt on that 10 points difference is on this one. Can someone else check this out and see if In game and armory show the same amount of achievements points? Because if others have this 10 point difference we maybe should do a ticket or something, waiting for replies :)

I can confirm, that you don’t need /goodbye, only /wave.
Got this achievement today on Live by spamming only /wave (Pelagos, Humility) when he started cast his massive charge from middle of arena, that was 19x /wave before he wave goodbye me and 3x /wave after it.
Seems like you need to /wave exactly at the same time as Athanos.
I didn’t use /goodbye at all. Maybe it works too, but you don’t need two macros.

Did it today, used Kleia on Courage difficulty and brought him to the western side of platform as you zone in. Spammed /wave as he used power swing and while I was falling into oblivion. While falling he emoted "Athanos waves goodbye to you. Farewell!" and then the achievement popped. Took x2 tries.

I tried to obtain this achievement yesterday and had a hard time getting it to work. First of all, I could not make my /wave macro work while using any soulbind (/goodbye is not required for this as stated before in the comments). I fixed this by installing the addon "Extra Bars". While ingame, I placed the macro in Extra Bar 1, when I used a soulbind the "Extra Bars" disappeared. Fix this by changing the Extra Bars settings ingame via Interface > AddOns > Extra Bar 1 > deselect the option "Hide when in Vehicle".

I choose Kleia for soulbind (no equipment) and engaged Athanos on Courage difficulty. I waited for the powerswing and positioned myself to be thrown off in a straight line.
I started spamming the macro by mouse-clicking it from the moment Athanos started casting. First try with the macro active I got the achievement on the first try after Athanos waved goodbye to me.

Strangely, as of today I cannot find this achievement any more in the achievements list (Relogging or looking for it via the search bar doesn't do anything). Two days ago it was definitvely there: I was thinking about doing it as the next one and now *poof* nowhere to be seen. I can still see it in the arsenal, though. Quite strange...

Seems to be bugged for me as 9.1.0. I've tried it in every difficulty but Athanos is still named as Polemarch Khalistene. IDK if that can be the reason why I can't earn this achievement, but it's kinda strange.

Attempted this multiple times today and i could not receive it. Spammed /wave and even /goodbye emote multiple times before and after he waved at me and i did not receive it. Could it be that it got removed from the game?

I just received this achievement in 9.1 even though every enemy in Path of Ascension is named "Polemarch Kalisthene".

It took me many attempts, but ultimately I received it the first attempt that I stopped spamming my "/wave" macro and instead tried to hit it the second I save Athanos' emote pop up. So I believe that you need to time your /wave rather than spam.

I couldn't get this to trigger so I was just trying weird stuff. Figured it might have something to do with line of sight and where he ends up after he does one of his knockback mechanics.

I did the Darkmoon Seesaw trick to play my own character. Neither the power swing or massive charge affect you when you do this. After he casted a power swing (remember it does not knock back, but he is still coded to wave if you're falling to your death after he casts it I guess), I ran to the edge and kited him close to it. Then I goblin jumped off the map and spammed a /wave macro. Got the achieve first try like this. He did do the wave emote even though I threw myself off.

Just got this in 9.1 against Athanos on Courage while playing as Mikanikos. I was knocked off by Power Swing while dismounted as Mikanikos, not on Bron. I did 2 /waves before Athanos and 2 after.

Opened a ticket after 60 attempts
- GM states achievement not bugged
- Directed to this page (despite previous visits here)
- Attempted again with /wave macro (like previous attempts)
- Attempt #1 Spamming /wave - No luck
- Attempt #2 Well timed /wave AFTER Athenos waves - Achievement unlocked (Kleia Soulbind on Courage difficulty)

Spamming seems to break achievement, better to try and time it after Athenos waves at you

This worked the 2nd attempt for me, by waiting for massive charge, standing on the edge and spamming wave letting the massive charge knock me off

Figured I'd add my attempt to get it.

After ~30 attempts waiting for a charge or swing, I thought why not just jump off. So after 2 attempts of pulling him then jumping off while spamming a /wave macro, I had gotten it. In both attempts he had waved goodbye pretty quickly after jumping off.

Just thought I'd throw out my experience with this just in case it provides a key to figuring this thing out.

I did it today with Kleia on Humility difficulty. I just engaged the boss and ran to the side and jumped straight down. I had a macro for /wave and /bye and was hitting both as I fell. Achievement popped after /wave. Others have mentioned doing it on Courage difficulty so, probably don't need humility just was trying different things. I think the /wave just needs to be timed at a very precise timer.

I tried this achievement, many, many times. I made a /wave Macro with a /Target Athanos. Each time when I tried, I waited for the charge and getting knocked off, I did this on the left and right side of the platform. Spamming my macro. It did not work and I got frustrated.

Suddenly, I got the idea, why not go to the other side of were we spawn, the stairs (the stairs were there are 2 Kyrians, not the stairs were your other soulbinds etc are). I waited for the charge, got knocked off and spammed my macro. Then boom, achievement pops up. I have no clue if this was just pure luck or if this is a key to the achievement :) I used Kleia on Loyalty difficulty.

Got it after some tries, pick whatever character you want.

Make macro:
/target athanos
/wave

I took him to the left side and jumped out while spamming the macro, what i think did it was that i waited him to get all the way to the ledge, i believe he needs to be in los (line of sight) when you wave back at him.

Had troubles obtaining this one while using the de_DE client. Worked first time when i tried using the localized emote "/winken" instead of "/wave".

I'm not sure if this achievement is even in the game anymore. I noticed it on my list from the addon "All the thing" but can't find it in the achievement lists in game. I still attempted to get it using all the tricks here and was not able to get it.

Can confirm this achiv is still doable as of 02nd June 2022 - Just got it today on Courage dificulty although any difficulty seems to work based on the posts already made.

Got my achiv by dragging Athanos to the very back opposite to where we spawn and jumped off when he was at the very edge, waited until he waved then spammed my button - it seems like there is a tiny tiny window (maybe 0.3 secs or less) for you to wave after he waves at you.

Previous attempts (about 10) were all spamming the hell out of my macro and this didn't work - whether by luck or timing or what I don't know - but its deffo still doable and is not bugged.

This WA listens to any Emote from Athanos containing Farewell! so if you use a different locale, you need to change the Trigger.

You need to be targeting Athanos while flying off. The WA will try to wave ~10 times as soon as Athanos waves. Got it within 10 tries after writing the WA.

Did it today, 13th of June 2022.
In summary:

1. It's super buggy (you might get it first try - you might need 50 tries)
2. It does not matter which Soulbind you pick or on what difficulty you do it.
3. I do not believe it matters from what edge you get kicked (for me it was the west)
4. /wave makro is all you need (don't worry about /goodbye macro)
5. you can use your macro before he waves goodbye to you
6. it does not matter if he power swings you off the platform or uses his massive charge to throw you off (for me it was the swing)
7. the one thing that seems to be crucial is timing so your best chance of getting it, is by spamming that macro as soon as you are airborn

The macro I used was:

/focus target
/wave

(you need to focus Athanos when you enter the arena, ideally before you start the fight)

I use Elvui so I figured there had to be a way to make Elvui show an action bar when in the vehicle in order to use the wave macro, rather than have to install another addon and there is. On the ActionBars option, on the bar where you have the macro (To keep things simple, I enabled Bar 10 solely for this purpose and added the macro to it), scroll to the bottom for Visibility State and change to:

show

You can add or remove the rest of the code as there is no impact for this. I did do a copy/paste of the existing code so I could put it back after, my existing code was:

hide; hide; hide; show

Then I just started clicking the macro as soon as I engaged him. Worked 1st time. Thank you to all the others here that paved the way for this.

NOTE: I did use Gizmooo's Focus target macro, where you set focus on Athanos before engaging him, but that was mainly as it was the last version of the macro I had used as I tried this so many times based on the various comments and nothing seemed to work (likely my misunderstanding of the setup/steps involved), so its possible just targetting Athanos instead of the extra step to set the focus would work as well.

Got this achievement today on my first attempt after the new hotfix - Shadowlands Patch 9.2.5 Hotfixes for June 11, 2022 - To the Moon Achievement Fix. Credit for the Path of Ascension achievement To the Moon should now be granted consistently. Used Kleia and Courage difficulty. Waited for him too use the Power Swing Ability to get knocked of the map, saw the message Athanos wavews goodbye to you. Farwell! used the /wave command got the achievement instant after that. So yeah, seems like the achievement is fixed now. The achievement is visible for non Kyrians too in your Achievements points bar.

I just got this achievement on my first try after having read that it was fixed. You dont have to wait for him to cast any abilities. Just jump off the platform without engaging Athanos, he will do /wave towards you, and you have about 0.5-1 seconds to wave back before the fight is lost. I simply targeted Athanos, jumped off, typed /wave and pressed enter just as the text appeared that he had waved. Good luck all!

An easy way to get this achievement is to go in as Mikanikos. Throw Mikanikos out of the mech. Jump off the edge and wave. He waves every time. I found doing this on other soul binds, it was hit or miss if he even waved.

There are a lot of overly complex comments on here, but I just got this very easily without having to do any macros or be very fast typing or moving. I was on Kleia on Humility level (but any soulbind or difficulty should work this way). I ran up to Athanos, hit one ability to engage him, standing right in the center of the platform with my back facing the short side of the arena. I typed /wave in my chat bar and just sat there and let him cast his abilities. Once he yeeted me off, the platform, I watched for his wave emote to show in chat and hit enter and the achievement popped.

TL;DR
Target Athanos
Run up to him and hit an ability
Type /wave in the chat bar but don't send it yet
Get yeeted
Watch for his emote
Hit enter to do your emote

Started fight.
Attacked boss, ran back towards stairs and went to one of the sides.
Boss used Swing
Had /wave already entered.
Fell off platform due to knock and saw boss give me an epic wave.
Pressed enter on keyboard.
Achievement pop.

Noting that I tried several times today using Power Swing as a method of getting knocked off so I could /wave. I didn't work for me after several attempts of getting knocked off and waving...

HOWEVER, I let him use Massive Charge on me (he throws you off with that, too) and I used /wave and it worked first try.
