A thing about this crown is something no screenshot could ever tell you. The 3 little stones, which makes up for the visual part, spin around! Its kind of a combination between "Thats kinda cool" and "Outright goofy" but ive never seen a headpiece with something like that before.

Oh, the stones also have a slight red lightning finish..

The graphic of this headpiece shows the 3 stones circling around your head in an anti clockwise direction if you were looking directly down on your character, this can easily be seen in the game. However on your character selection screen the rotation appears to be the same but as you can't get a direct overhead view we have to take it that it could be rotating either way, as an optical illusion, so to attempt to clarify we can rotate our character using the arrows or sweeping the mouse from one side to the other, the way that these stones slow down or stop rotating would sugest a clockwise rotation, not the anti clockwise of the ingame view, however for this to be possible the angle of the rotation takes on an impossible scenario. If you have this headpiece try to make sence of the animation because it has got me well and truely foxed.

lol this makes my BE mage look like a Blood mage from w3(minus them being green in w3) and oddly blood mages defending thrallmar have the same head piece as this.

This helm is definitely an item to keep just because it's funny and very UNIQUE to any other item in WoW.
there is another similar item which is given from aa quest, CHOOSE THE HELM; you will replace your current helm later
I highly suggest NOT selling either one, they are worth keeping for the lolz XD had mine for about 2 years (still have it)

Also in Cataclysm; you can see it in action on one of the NPC in the new contested pvp area Tol Borad Penninsula.
On alliance side, there is a mage casting the portal spell to Stormwind and he has the helm on, so those who have not seen it in action can just look @ him for the lolz

No one has mentioned that the three floating balls are in fact delicious cheesy wotsits. Any time you need a stamina boost you can consume one. It only works three times though.

Any Dungeons & Dragons player should immediately pick up on the graphical match to D&D's Ioun Stones- little enchanted crystals that hover near the owner and grant magical bonuses. Same applies, of course, to any other helm with this model.

Had one drop off my FIRST Murkblood Purifier in Nagrand. I feel uber-lucky since they are not even on the list of mobs that drop this. BTW, i am a shadow priest so I just about pooped my pants, lol! Also, looks fricken fantastic in Shadowform! A buddy of mine told me to sell it but I couldn't get rid of an item like this. If you find it for less than 75G buy it cause i wouldn't sell it less than that!

It's three red stones, which rotate around your head. I submitted a Screenshot, so it'll be up soon, i hope. Found it in a Chest in Mana tombs hehe.

Just bought this on Dragonblight for 100g , Great helm imo, im stuck with some suck Green quest reward as i cant seem to replace the damn thing. Sure im only level 64 but im sure it was a wise investment even if i dont end up using it.

As an elemental leatherworker i quite often farmed the Clefthoof Bulls in Nagrand for Thick Clefthoof Leather on my way to 375. In about a week of farming (a few hours each day) ive gotten 3 of these crowns and it is the only blue ive seen drop from the clefthoofs aside from a blue plate helm. So if your lookin for one of these and dont want to pay the 120g i put it on AH for, just give the Nagrand Clefthoof Bulls a visit. If your a skinner you can sell the leather for about 60g per stack too (you can get 1 stack per hour, maybe a bit more).

It seems that I always get blues/purples to drop early Sunday mornings and this Sunday AM was no different. I couldn't make up my mind on whether to keep this or sell in AH. On my server, someone had it for 55g buyout..my decision was made right then and there. I figured it to be at least 100g but I was reminded that this realm is poor by comparison.

My only concern about this piece is the lack of +crit. Being a 'lock, I like my crits but as far as looks and the other stats...VERY NICE for a world drop!

note: got mine off a Mature Silkwing in Blades Edge Mountains (see above: Mature Silkwing 0.01 %)

I had been doing instances with a lvl 64 warlock all day i am a 63 warlock and this came out of a chest it was the only thing that he had won but i outrolled him on it and then we killed pandemonius and the wand dropped and i won that too. He got mad and left but hes in my guild so i probably shouldve let him have the epic paragons in ZG...

This helm is so sweet. Its really a shame that people on my server "archimonde" think it is worth 300G. its a midlevel item, so no one in their right mind would pay for something replaceable. Nice piece, and BoE, too. Probably be 500g once people start discovering it. Only downside is that it has no sockets, but it could definitely last you until you get your dream headpiece well into 70.

Got one off a random Talbuk during the incredibly long "Mastery" quest grind.

When equipped, three small jewels circle above your head - much like when you're dazed.

It's a little odd - but definitely a conversation piece.

what is not shown yet is the fact that it isnt a hat per-se, but a set of three garnet gems circling around the head like a crystal halo. very neat. i will try to upload a pic soon.
oh yah got it off a chest in the crypts. i lost the roll but my guildies didnt need it so they let me have it. this is one happy warlock.

Just dropped on a Ruaan'ok talonite in blades edge last night, after an odd 5 greens in a row then this for the 6th, lol, someone had it for 209g on AH, thought was a bit steep, so i sold mine for an easy 125g, only lasted an hour in the AH, made about 250g within 6 easy kills as a 68 NE rogue.

im sorry but the Tourmaline Crown has 22 Int less. so you dont get much mana. and plus. you would probably get more spell crit from the Crown of Endless Knowledge, and its got 1 more spell damage.. so think about it, and WOAH 6 ARMOR DIFF! -.- please think about these things

I agree, save yourself some gold and get the Tourmaline Crown from the quest. You get 24 gold AND the crown, not to mention the gold rewards on the previous steps of the chain (about 50 gold in total). Both crowns end up being very similar in stats at the end of the day.

Congrats if you get it off a drop. Sorry if you spend much gold at AH to get it.

Seen this drop twice in nagrand. Once from an earth elemental west of osh'gun and once from clefthoof in east nagrand. Of course its just a world drop so can drop from most mobs of the appropriate level.

Dropped for my 64 Affliction Lock in auchenai crypts a few hours ago. Killed Maladaar and it dropped. got that. There we also no other clothies but me, and was in durnholde with my 70 hunter...again no clothies, greeded i won...... Sold it in AH for 54g. thats how much it was worth.

Got this pretty little piece from a chest in Mana-Tombs. According to The Armory, its drop rate is extremely Low (1% - 2%) in that instance. :D

I also go the Voidfire Wand and Staff of Polarities.
