This section of the Fire Mage guide provides tactics and advice on how to approach the artifact appearance challenge
Une adversaire impossible
added in patch 7.2. This guide is written by Malon, who raids with <Omen> on Emerald Dream EU; his lifelong ambition is to have the Warlock class renamed to 'Fuzzy Cuddlebears'. Find him on

This guide is about the Legion version of the Mage Tower Challenge, that isn't accessible anymore.

Fire Mage Challenge Appearance
Timebender's Blade is an appearance for
Felo'melorn
, for which you need to complete a difficult solo scenario. You can only attempt this while the Mage Tower building is active in the Broken Shore area.
Fire - Timebender's Blade
Gear
Although you can attempt it with less, I recommend a gear level of at least 915 before trying this challenge - it has been done as low as item level 890, but you may want to just get more gear and overpower it.
Any trinkets should be helpful for this scenario, particularly any trinkets from Antorus.
Buffs
Tartare d'ours
Flacon du pacte murmuré
Rune d'amélioration profanée
Élixir lumine-sang
can be used for some extra damage, but isn't necessary.
Talents
These are my preferred talents for the fight, but there are other options. For example,
Ame flamboyante
can be taken if you’re really struggling for sustain, although
Chatoiement
has more utility - and procs
Transfert cautérisant
.
Image miroir
is also viable, and you should always take
Fureur d'Alexstrasza
over
Enflammé
if you have
Diadème de feu draconique de Darckli
.
I consider
Boute-flammes
to be a trap talent in this encounter. There are a lot of adds that spawn, but
Déflagration
wins because of the sustained AoE DPS it provides. On the other hand, I
highly
recommend taking
Garde glaciale
to deal with the
Diablotin serviteur
s.
Legendaries
As mentioned,
Diadème de feu draconique de Darckli
makes imp control much easier, especially combined with
Fureur d'Alexstrasza
.
Banderoles du roi-soleil
are a huge help in bursting down Agatha’s
Fureur sombre
shield.
The fight is long enough that you can get two uses of
Distorsion temporelle
with
Fragment de l'Exodar
.
Prydaz, chef-d'œuvre de Xavaric
dramatically increases your sustain in this encounter, as does
Dernier acte de Belo'vir
(but use Prydaz if you have both).
Secret de Sephuz
is viable, as there are many ways to activate it.
Toucher brûlant de Koralon
is amazingly useful - borderline overpowered - in the second half of phase 2, but doesn’t help much before then.
The encounter
The encounter is divided into two phases. Throughout you will need to deal with near-constant add spawns and keep up a steady stream of damage on
Agatha
, with occasional burst requirements.
Phase 1
Throughout this phase,
Agatha
will cast a low-damage
Coup de poignard d'ombre
at you, with
Fureur d'Agatha
(simply move out of it) whenever an add dies. There are four types of adds in the encounter:
Diablotin flambant
- These cast a low-damage
Éclair de feu
and can generally be cleaved down after a single
Choc de flammes
(with
Gerbe de flammes
) or
Bombe vivante
.
Diablotin serviteur
- Pairs of these spawn at the back of the room and run towards Agatha. On reaching her, they will begin channeling a heal (
Captation d'énergie
) and stacking damage buff onto her that lasts for the rest of the fight. They can be interrupted with Counterspell and are susceptible to all forms of crowd control (including Dragon’s Breath).
Diablotin ombreux
- Between one and three of these will be spawned at various points throughout the fight. They will channel an immunity shield onto Agatha and must be killed in order to attack her again. They are your highest priority target.
Diablotin furieux
- These are kamikaze-style mobs that will run to you and explode, leaving a
Zone de peste
on the ground (which will not disappear). They can and should be killed in phase 1, but in phase 2 I recommend just moving to a convenient spot and allowing them to blow up.
Agatha will begin by summoning Smoldering Imps, followed shortly by two Imp Servants.
Nova de givre
these and kill one, then the next. Counterspell or Dragon’s Breath if they get too close to Agatha.
Next you will need to deal with
Fureur sombre
: a large shield that must be broken before you can interrupt the spell. Burst this down quickly, before she summons her first set of Umbral Imps (always three at first); if these channel the shield onto Agatha at the same time as she is using Dark Fury, you are likely to wipe.
Continue dealing with mechanics in the same way, with the priority of Umbral Imp > Dark Fury > Imp Servant > Agatha. This phase lasts until Agatha hits 50% health.
Phase 2
All of the adds and abilities from phase 1 are active, but Agatha begins to teleport around the encounter area and drop boulders. These take up a third of the room and will one-shot you if you get hit, so you must avoid them. Additionally,
Déflagration de lave gangrenée
will spawn underneath you - again, move out to avoid taking damage.
Agatha remains in place until she reaches 35%, at which point she teleports again. After this, she teleports on a timer - roughly every minute - so it’s important to keep the entire encounter area as clear as possible.
Tips + tricks
Save
Météore
to burst down the Dark Fury shield - but make sure it doesn’t land on any imps.
Fureur sombre
is cast when Agatha reaches 100% energy, so keep an eye on her energy bar - this will tell you when imps need to be dead by and when you should be saving cooldowns!
Frost Nova the Imp Servants when they spawn and kill one; Frost Nova again if necessary to stop them from reaching Agatha.
If you’re using
Toucher brûlant de Koralon
,
Distorsion temporelle
at around 55% and burn Agatha to 30%, after which the fight should become much easier.
Anything else useful
The highest success rate so far belongs to people blowing all of their cooldowns (Time Warp, Combustion, trinkets, etc) in phase 1 and burning Agatha down extremely quickly - sometimes taking her to phase 2 just after the first set of Umbral Imps spawn. However, those people generally have gear in the 910+ region. If you’re not at that level, it’s fine to save Time Warp for phase 2, when it can help to clear up adds and burn Agatha.
