These fragments can be obtained in two ways: killing mobs in the wake of The Xenedar's crash (in the yellow streak littered with portals and demons)/enemies attacking the Shattered Fields beacon, or finding glowing orange/yellow crystals scattered on the floor. Despite being stronger, elite enemies are not guaranteed to drop a greater amount of fragments. Each enemy typically drops between 2-4, and I've found the objects on the ground to give upwards of 4. I'd recommend prioritising interacting with the ones on the floor where possible for improved results, and killing mobs you may pull on the way.

Another note: make sure you stay within the yellow minimap circle when you go for this; killing enemies outside of its boundaries, however slightly, will result in them not dropping any fragments at all.
