Look for the building that has a flower/sun that's illuminated at the top. (Triangle shape).
You'll also see a triangle above the doorway on the ground. The bodies you are looking for are in the area. They will show a yellow outline as you hover on them. Each one provides a coin. Turn in is inside the same building - guy is sitting inside in the corner.

Bizarre really.

These things are found on some wasterwander bodies in Orsis, yet they don't go in your bags or show up as a currency.

As near as I can tell they are only useful when the quest Pièces bat-le-désert is up. I assume this quest is a daily though I've never seen it up.

Edit: Finally saw the daily up and that's what they're for.

Real bad design, hardly feels like trying.

Outlander Lashan gives a daily quest called Wastewander Coin. If you have already been collecting these, even though they don't show up in your inventory, they evidently count towards the daily.
I had collected them but noticed that they didn't appear in my bags nor in my currency.
I came here to look it up and jumped back to the game, played a bit, found Outlander Lashan in a small "cave/hut" and he gave me the quest to search bodies and collect 6 coins.
It was already a gold ? after I accepted the quest so I turned it in.
