Item is consumed on use.

They get a buff with no time duration.

Edit: Buff is removed when you leave the group with them or log off. Unsure at the time which caused the buff to go away, since both happened at the same time.

The quest to obtain this item is provided when an Evoker uses the Souvenirs anciens on a party member. Doing group content with the evoker will reward drops that increase the percentage. In general, farming the rares in the Fyrakk assault is the quickest way to gain progress. Once completed, this item can be used on the Evoker, and will last until the players leave the party. There can be 2 stacks of the buff, for a 100% increase in droprate.

Note, if you join LFR with the buff it will last, but if you then leave the instance group (even though the giver is still in the normal party) the buff gets removed.

The previous comments here mention the buff disappearing when leaving groups, relogging etc.

I'm doing the quest today solo, as in I gave myself the quest to fill the bar to 100% for this by using the quest item on myself, then did Fyrakk assaults until I filled the bar 100% and handed the quest in at Nozdormu.

I used the Empowered Temporal Gossamer on myself and have the 50% increased gain buff.

Since doing that I've relogged, joined and left parties, played on alts, done dungeons, and I still have the 50% buff.

Seems they may have fixed something since below comments - or using it on yourself works differently to using it on others.

I think this is really dumb that you can lose this buff at all. I think it's fine if it goes away when you finish the legendary quest but the whole idea of vestigals and the 3 different crafting items/professions is that it's necessary to do different types of content but it pretty much just forces you to live in the fyrakk assaults instead till you get all 400 of them. It seems that it just disappears if the person you teach to leaves the party but chances are they are probably reluctant to do the quest anyway since they don't get much out of it, never mind sit in the assaults till you farm all of it out. On top of again just doing different content like assaults/raids/soul catching just seems very counter intuitive unless you just happen to know to teach it to yourself if you happen to have the profession space for it.

I still have this Buff 5 months after crafting the Legendary. I've been in groups for M+ and Raid. Died countless times and it persists. I can't click it off, at this stage I feel like its there forever.
