Fairly easy to get. Just keep killing the mobs until it drops. So far i found 3-4 of them but no upper one yet, so low drop chance on that one.

sometimes you can find wirt's third leg,an easter egg reffering to wirt,the peg-legged boy from Diablo.

I guess I was lucky. 7 Pirate's Footlocker på rundt 50 kills. (16 of 20 Pirate Hats too), and inside was all the three needed map-fragments and two captain's-keys.

*edit* How on earth did I manage to switch between languages in this comment? >.<

World drops are possible from these footlockers.

I had Icemail Jerkin drop from a footlocker today. It made my day since I was constantly being ganked by 70s.

This is a reference to the popular Diablo Series.

In Diablo 1, there was a character called Wirt, who lost his leg to Diablo but escaped. He then lived in a town called Tristam. You could buy a rare item off him, and it costed ALOT of money.

In Diablo 2, Tristam is overrun by demons, and at one point in the game, you Revisit it. You can get "Wirts Leg" a mace with poor stats. (This mace unlocks The Secret Cow Level, however)

Then, in Warcraft 3: The Frozen Throne, at one point you kill "The Butcher" (A boss in the first Diablo) and then an item drops called "Wirts Second Leg" This is an obvious reference to Diablo, and the leg serves as no use...

And in World of Warcraft, we have Wirts Third Leg. A random mace drop.

Just a little lore for you people..

Lady Luck is shining on me today!
I just got two of these in two kills, and both contained a Wirt's Third Leg!
Now my Shammy is DWing those brutes, and it cost me nothing. :D

I think they must've increased the drop rate of these lately - I've gotten several of them in one evening, something that's never happened before when I've killed these guys.

Well it took me 2-3 hours of grinding to get 4 middle, 2 upper parts and leaving frustrated.

I just grinded for this. After 1 hour and 15min and a few hundred pirates killed, I got my hands on 22 of these and this is what I got:

5 captain's key
11x lower map fragments
3x upper map fragments

Luckily I talked to someone who was doing those quests and he had one over for me :) I got 7 lower fragments before my first upper and I thought I did something wrong at first. All you have to be is enduring and kill

Haha, I randomly got one of these when I was killing mobs to get to Firebeard... it had Wirt's Third Leg in it. I feel so lucky!

While you can still get the map fragments, the map that they create no longer gives a quest.

Now I've killed around 2-300 Southsea Swashbucklers and I haven't got a single footlocker so I guess they are history...
