Allied Races Updates in the Shadowlands Pre-Patch: Exalted Requirement Removed, Customization Improvements

Allied Races are receiving some notable updates in the Shadowlands pre-patch, such as the removal of the Exalted requirement to unlock each race. Here is a look at the important changes coming to Allied Races in the pre-patch, including customization improvements.

Allied Race Unlock Requirements Changed
All Allied Races will be easier to unlock in the
Shadowlands
pre-patch. The requirement to hit Exalted with a related faction has been removed, leaving only the requirement to complete a related series of zone quests.
The requirements to unlock Allied Races in
Shadowlands
will be:

More Customization Options for Allied Races
Allied Races were also impacted by the
Shadowlands
customization overhaul. While not as dramatic as the makeover the original races received, many races saw their customization options separated out into more categories, allowing for more combinations. All of the options listed below are available in the Shadowlands Dressing Room:

Void Elves have received significant updates, which we've detailed in a separate guide

. They have received new eye colors and all the same skin tones as Blood Elves, so they can resemble High Elves now.
Mag'har Orcs have received new eye colors including bright orange, earrings, piercings, and necklaces resembling the new Orc options, and tusk customization.
Vulpera have received new eye colors including blind options and the ability to customize their fur texture separately.
Nightborne received a new Plated earring option.
Zandalari accessories split out into different categories like piercings, ear gauge, and necklace so you can have multiple pieces of jewelry visible at once.
Highmountain Tauren tattoos are split into paint and tattoo style, and they also receive a new earring option.
Mechagnome skin color and paint job were split out. Mechagnomes also received the same new skin tones as Gnomes.
Lightforged Draenei tendrils are customized separately from their face.
All races have a bald option now.
Allied Race Heritage Armor
Following the level squish, newly created Allied Race characters will receive their Heritage Armor and achievements upon reaching level 50 without using any boosts.
New Starting Levels for Allied Races
In Battle for Azeroth, Allied Races started at level 20. Following the level squish, Allied Races will begin at level 10 and can play through any of the 8 expansions via Chromie Time.
