Battle Shout, Intellect and Fortitude Scrolls will likely not be available in Shadowlands. This means that if you want 5% Intellect, 5% Attack Power or 5% Stamina, you'll need to bring a Mage, Warrior or Priest respectively to your party or raid. No more scrolls to make up for a missing class!
Check out all the Class Utility consumables that are being removed or changed in Shadowlands.

Raid Buffs
As a reminder, the raid Buffs in Shadowlands have been nerfed to 5% each (down from 10%).
Cri de guerre
: Increases the attack power of all raid and party members within 100 yards by 105% for 1 hour.
Intelligence des Arcanes
: Infuses the target with brilliance, increasing their Intellect by 105% for 1 hour.
Mot de pouvoir : Robustesse
; Infuses the target with vitality, increasing their Stamina by 105% for 1 hour.
Battle for Azeroth Scrolls
The Battle for Azeroth scrolls have been altered in Shadowlands to no longer affect targets above Level 50.
Parchemin de bataille de Cri de guerre
: Use: Increases the target's attack power by 53% for 30 min. If target is in your party or raid, all party and raid members will be affected. Not usable above level 50.
Parchemin de bataille de Robustesse
: Use: Increases the target's Stamina by 53% for 30 min. If target is in your party or raid, all party and raid members will be affected. Not usable above level 50.
Parchemin de bataille d’Intelligence
: Use: Increases the target's Intellect by 53% for 30 min. If target is in your party or raid, all party and raid members will be affected. Not usable above level 50.
This means that these will work in the pre-patch but once you start leveling, these will be useless. It's a little odd that Blizzard decides to shut this off right away during leveling, instead of making them unusable at level 59. This would provide them with one last use.
No Shadowlands Scrolls
In the first Shadowlands Alpha build, we datamined spells for the new Inscription scrolls called Writs. The first spell
Écrit de pillage de tombes
has made it onto the writ item
Écrit de pillage de tombes
.
NEW
Allows opening of locks that require up to 625 lockpicking skill. The lockpick is consumed in the process.
NEW
Increases the target's attack power by 7% for 30 min.
If target is in your party or raid, all party and raid members will be affected.
NEW
Increases the target's Stamina by 7% for 30 min.
If target is in your party or raid, all party and raid members will be affected.
NEW
Increases the target's Intellect by 7% for 30 min.
If target is in your party or raid, all party and raid members will be affected.
However, the other three spells that relate to new Shadowlands scrolls have never been updated and are still only attached to placeholder items
REUSE ME
,
REUSE ME
or not hooked up at all.
The Consumable vendor on the Shadowlands Beta doesn't have any replacement scrolls either and this Consumable vendor includes every consumable including
Renfort d’armure désolé lourd
,
Huile d’embaumeur
and the new Drums item
Tambours de férocité mortelle
.
Conclusion
The Shadowlands release date is in about two months, and it looks like Buff scrolls will not be returning Shadowlands with no current item that will grant these Raid Buffs. This of course can change within this time period, but with every other consumable ready to go on the Shadowlands Beta, it seems unlikely. Overall,
Cri de guerre
,
Intelligence des Arcanes
and
Mot de pouvoir : Robustesse
have been reduced in value, meaning if you didn't use scrolls previously, the penalty for not having a buff will be less impactful. But if you did use scrolls, you're going to be missing 5% in Shadowlands, down from 3% in BFA without the required class
This seems to align it with Demon Hunter's
Marque du chaos
and Monk's
Toucher mystique
. Many players wanted a way to apply a nerfed version of these debuffs if they didn't have the class available similar to Scrolls, but it seems like Blizzard have gone the other way, removing scrolls and making the raid buffs similar to the 5% debuffs.
If you want all the base raid buffs and debuffs, you'll need:
A Warrior for 5% Attack Power.
A Mage for 5% Intellect.
A Priest for 5% Stamina.
A Monk for 5% Physical Damage.
A Demon Hunter for 5% Magic Damage.
Raids will likely be able to cover all these buffs. But in dungeons, players will have to pick and choose what kind of buffs and debuffs will best benefit their comp. It's unlikely that you'll get to have all of them, so you'll have to choose the best ones for your composition. Have 3 magic users in your group? Maybe you want a DH tank.
Opinion
If Blizzard decides to go this route, I think I would personally like to see a second class get each of these buffs. Only one class bringing each of these buffs is a little stifling, but two classes that are able to bring each buff would still allow for class diversity which being less strict on a composition. Even tossing the debuffs onto low represented specs would help them just a little get into groups. What if Survival Hunter or Feral Druid could bring the 5% Physical Damage buff as well? What if Shamans brought the 5% Magic Damage buff?
What do you think of this change? Would you like to see Blizzard go the opposite direction with Scrolls returning and adding them for the DH and Monk buff too? Do you think more classes having buffs is the best solution? Let us know in the comments below.
