In this last PTR build, there's even more Corruption changes and this post will cover the changes to the negative effects of Corruption. The Legendary Cloak now has a new On Use ability, we take some pictures of the new Eye of Corruption effect and Grand Delusions was nerfed, making it much more feasible for classes like Outlaw Rogue to take higher levels of Corruption.
Find out more about the
recent changes to Corrupted Weapon effects
.
Legendary Cloak On Use
The Legendary Cloak
main stat proc
has been removed in this build. However, in its place (at Rank 6), is a new 3 minute On Use ability that will instantly dispel any effects from Corruption and make you immune to further effects for 6 seconds.
Use: Dispel any effects of N'zoth's Corruption, and become immune to any further Corruption effects for 6 sec. (3 Min Cooldown)
This is a very interesting change as it allows players to somewhat control the randomness of the Corruption effects. If you get a bad puddle or add spawn, or need to prevent Corruption at a critical point in an encounter, you can Use your Cloak to ensure your safety.
Using the Cloak will instantly remove and prevent the following for 6 seconds.
The snare from
Vrilles avides
.
The
Œil de la corruption
zone.
Any active
Grandes illusions
adds.
The
Malédiction inévitable
debuff.
We haven't been able to test this, but because the Cloak is an On Use, you may not be able to put a Goblin Glider on it.
Eye of Corruption
The new effect at 20+ Corruption is called
Œil de la corruption
. This has the same idea as the previous effect, Area Denial.
Your spells and abilities have a chance to summon an Eye of Corruption for 8 sec. The Eye inflicts increasing Shadow damage to you every 2 sec while you remain in range.
Range and damage increase with further Corruption.
Eye of Corruption is much clearer than the Corrupted Zone with a simple Eye and a clear purple line showing its range. Unlike the Corrupted Zone, which was pitch black and covered anything until it, you won't be able to blame this Corruption effect for not seeing the swirly under it.
Unlike the tooltip says, the Eye of Corruption ticks EVERY second. With 36 Corruption, it was hit or miss whether or not I would get out of the circle before the first tick goes off. However, here's the catch: Every time you take damage, you stack the
Œil de la corruption
debuff, that increases your damage taken from the Eye of Corruption by 15%.
The damage of each tick is low (~20k at low Corruption), but can quickly scale to high amounts if you stay inside the zone.
Just for fun, I wanted to see the size of the circle at 121 Corruption... and yes it double procced and I died.
Grand Delusions Nerf
The add that is spawned from
Grandes illusions
is much more obvious, as it looks like a pink version of your character!
Taking damage has a chance to summon a Thing From Beyond, which pursues you for 10 seconds8 sec. Its speed increases with further Corruption.
The duration was reduced to 8 seconds, but the add is generally so fast that you're probably not going to be running from it for 8 seconds.
However, there was another change made to the Grand Delusions to make it easier. They are now targetable and can be hit by abilities.
They have around 215k health. This doesn't matter too much as you won't be killing them.
They are affected by knockbacks and other CC abilities, allowing you to use utility spells to help you keep them away.
Applying a Loss of Control effect to the Thing From Beyond instantly despawns the add safely.
Using abilities like
Disparition
will also instantly despawn the add safely.
I tested stuns,
Disparition
and
Cécité
and they all despawned the add safely.
This means that you can set up a /target Thing From Beyond /cast <CC ability> macro to instantly despawn the add, which makes it much more feasible for certain classes to get more corruption. For example, Outlaw Rogues have
Disparition
up very often, a
Disparition
, an immunity
Cape d'ombre
, and a stun. Most melee also have a short cooldown stun that can be used. All players will have access to the On Use Cloak effect once they upgrade their cloak to Rank 6 as well.
