Completion: Clearing mobs, breaking phylacteries, freeing Souls, and defeating the end boss all count toward the Completion score. Maximum is 100%.

Time: You have a timer that counts how long you are expected to be able to complete your Torghast run. Finishing at or below this time gives full points; taking more time to finish deducts points.

Empowered bonus: Completing tasks in Torghast fills an Empowerment meter. Filling the bar gives your party the opportunity to activate an Renforcé buff, giving a 36-second buff that allows you to collect double points for Torghast activities.

Extra points: You can earn extra points by completing tasks like collecting a set number of Anima powers, killing the boss under a certain time limit, destroying all phylacteries and freeing all souls.

Torghast, Tower of the Damned User Interface

Objective Tracker: This will show you main information about your Torghast run.

Floor Indicator: What floor you are currently on.

Anima Amount: How much Fantasmes you currently have available.

Empowered Meter: How much Empowerment you have earned. Getting past the line 3/4 of the way through means you are eligible to activate the Empowered buff for you and your party.

Anima Power UI: This retractable UI shows you how many Anima Powers you have currently collected. You can click on the Anima Powers button to see the slide-out menu displaying the icons of the Anima Powers that you currently have. Mousing over an icon will pop-out a brief description. The number on the icon indicated the number of stacks of that Anima Power that you have. Instant and single use Anima Powers, like those that grant you free Phantasma, for example, are not displayed on the Anima Power UI.

Anima Orbs and Powers in Torghast, Tower of the DamnedAnima OrbsAnima Power

Anima Orbs can simply spawn on the Floor but are generally protected by Elite Mobs. The ones that spawn in Break Rooms won't be protected.

Empowered Mobs with increased damage and health will spawn at the end of most floors. Killing them always spawns an Anima Orb.

Similarly, Rare Mobs will always spawn an Anima Orb once killed.

Occasionally, enemies and phylacteries in Torghast hold Anima Orbs and drop them once killed or destroyed.

Completing side objectives, such as opening special chests or helping covenant prisoners, will spawn an Anima Orb.

Anima Orbs can be spawned from Cellule d’anima pillée, which can be purchased from broker NPCs in Break Rooms.

Torghast, Tower of the Damned Layout and EnvironmentTorghast, Tower of the Damned Terminology

Run: Your uninterrupted time in Torghast, from when you enter a Wing or Twisting Corridor until you leave or complete your objective.

Wing: One of six different Torghast available dungeons. Each wing has 12 layers.

Twisting Corridor: A special dungeon composed of 3 Torghast wings that are run in succession. Twisting Corridors has 8 layers and 18 floors.

Layer: The "difficulty" level of Torghast, that can be selected before entering a Wing or Twisting Corridor. Layer 1 is the easiest, and Layer 12 is the hardest. Twisting Corridors has 8 layers instead of 12.

Floor: The environment that you are in beginning when you port in, and ending with another portal. Each Torghast wing has 5 Floors, while Twisting Corridors has 18 floors.

Break Room: A room where you are able to rest for a bit. Break Rooms have one free Anima Hoard, a couple of souls available to be freed, and the vendor Négociant Ve'ken is available there, offering powerful items and Anima Powers in exchange for Fantasmes. With Broker Ve'ken you can see a hologram that displays the next boss you will be facing, as well as a dome that allows the changing of talents or specializations. Break Rooms are always Floors 3, 9 and 15. No mobs will spawn, nor Torments will stack in Break Rooms.

Boss Room: A room where you will need to defeat a boss encounter to either end the run (if you're at a Wing run) or go to the next level (if in Twisting Corridors). The vendor Négociant Ve'nott is available there, offering powerful items and Anima Powers in exchange for Fantasmes to help you defeat the boss. Another dome will be around Broker Ve'nott, once again allowing you to swap talents or specializations before engaging the boss. In regular Torghast runs, the Boss Room is on level 5. Boss Rooms in Twisting Corridors are always Floors 6, 12 and 18.

Torment: A stacking debuff that affects your entire party in Torghast. Torments start in Layer 6 and increase with higher Layers. Torments change daily. 1-2 of these can be removed through Row 2 talent Délivrés du tourment, Ranks 1 and 2.

There is a description of the kind of environment you will encounter for each wing.

You can see what Levels you have unlocked in the current Wing.

When you mouse over a Layer icon, a pop-up informs you of the recommended item level for completing this Layer.

When you mouse over a Soul Ash or Soul Cinders icon, you can see which Layers you've already received weekly rewards from for this lockout, or how much Cendre d’âme you'll get for completing each Layer, updating for any low level Layers that you haven't collected rewards from yet. Note that the Twisting Corridors do not reward Soul Ash or Soul Cinders, so this icon is not present on the Twisting Corridors interface.

"It is known that you will need to go back to The Maw and venture the zone to try and find keys to enter Torghast."

It's has come time for me to take that extended WoW break. I'm not buying into this model of "95% of your gametime doing boring and really dumb stuff to earn the 5% of fun that is in the game."

M+ worked great, this is a huge step in the wrong direction and I'm out. (And worse, it hurts M+ progression if I don't Torgast, so it ruins that content too).

I did big breaks that after BC (and it was a 4 year break) and did a shorter one at launch of Legion (waited until 7.3 to start playing) and both were good breaks for me. Will see if 9.3 gets me to come back or not, but one thing I know - when Bliz developers make bad decisions, it takes them 1-2 years to fix it.

Not really interested in this type of thing it's looking to be another type of vision thingy..that you do over and over again your powers are temporary and the only reason to possible going in there is get the legendary thing. They stated something about a smart AI last time and did not put it in effect unfortunately..I dont hold much hope this not being another type of mission table thing...

I'm really excited for this type of content, especially when it can scale to fit different group sizes. I'm worried about fairness to healing classes who haven't invested in dps gear.

I hope that this gets seasonal changes like M+ - a few different anima powers, bosses/mobs, torments, etc. Maybe some kind of meta leaderboard or chest like M+ (on a longer timer if needed) to provide a long-term advancement goal other than legendaries.

I think the amount of Soul Ash changed, so this needs updated. Just did a run doing Layer 3 and got 305, not 335. So, I guess it's 120, 100, 85 now.

For the Venthyr covenant, the quest is Retour dans les ténèbres which applies after unlocking world quests.

When you encounter a quest NPC during your run, don't expect them to follow you to the next floor to fight alongside you against that nasty boss. They will disappear, and you'll lose an opportunity to get another anima power. I learnt it the hard way, don't be like me.

Edit: just wanted to add that if you get an anima power you want to save for the next floor, you can simply hide it and when you get to the next floor the power WON'T disappear. BUT do take note that while the power is being hidden and unchosen, you CAN'T choose any other anima power. This could be extremely useful when it happens at the right time. For example, while I was soloing Mort'regar layer 8 (I'm an outlaw rogue), I got the 1:30 mins immunity to all harm power halfway through floor 5, so I hid it and finished floor 5 without taking the floor boss's power and went on to floor 6, used the immunity power right before the final boss and downed him without losing a single hair.

Ugh, have no idea what is going on with Upper Reaches - solo - final boss floor 6, level 3 - but something is not tuned right - 11/28 - rocked through all 5 levels, got to the final boss and literally was 2 shotting me with stacked absorbs and shields, popped lust, mirror images, had full burn, immediately took out my mirror images, first hit from boss took out all shields, and half my health, popped a healing potion, got him into a frost nova that does not break with damage, got him down to 47 percent, he broke free, rushed me and literally took me out with one spell. Same results 3 separate attempts at item level 167

Really don't like spending my time going through 5 floors(actually 4 because two are repairs) and finding this result and getting NOOOOTHINNNNNGGGG for my time, if this is how Torghast will be, yeah this was enough for me to say, nope not willing to beat my head against the wall for 5 levels and get nothing.

Shadowlands launch and we now only get six floors only per layer for no gear, kudos ActiBlizz! They should have taken ANOTHER FULL MONTH AT LEAST before releasing this garbage... what did they even delay it for? Bug fixes that barely handled anything? Beta Torghast was MUCH better than this time-gated, gutted and neutered horse dung! Typical Blizzard, rushing everything out to appease Activision shareholders with great concepts but horrible execution... and then after everyone has legit complaints as a result, doubling down on their mistakes while hiring paid trolls to simp and brigade for them! Who needs moderators on the official forums when you have bots and mass-flaggers doing your work!

We need a more in-depth Torghast guide for each wing that explains mechanics, mob abilities, and potential bosses. I've been on the forums and people are really confused. If you go into them not knowing what to expect you can easily waste hours not realizing you were doomed to fail from the 2nd floor.

I like the place so far. Reminds me a lot of D3 greater rifts. However, what I find really lacking is the rewards: what about people who doesn't have crafting professions? Just cosmetics for them?

Our guild is funneling all the crafting to designated crafters, so we can all gear faster. So there's really no reason for me to do Torghast other than personal challenge.

If during the first week, you complete Layers 1, 2, and 3, unlocking them as you go, you'd earn 120, 100, and 85 Soul Ash for a total of 335.

Maybe I'm crazy, but when I do the math I get 305, not 335.

Just want to add that on floor 3, there is a hologram by the broker of the boss you are about to face on floor 6. Might help with building your character if you are familiar with the boss.

I am quickly losing my interest in this place due to the amount of time consumed with these floors. There are some classes where this is just a beat down. I've posted once already on this and what I am seeing is that groups are struggling to find tanks and healers, and running solo at upper levels is very frustrating to say the least. I've wasted hours at various times trying to get my progression, spent 10k or more on prep and at the end of the day not made it through. I've put more time into getting through Torghast then raiding (strategizing or working through it methodically) just so I could keep up with my guildies. I'll just stick to the lower levels and leave it at that, don't have time to put hours into Torghast, raiding, mythic keys and running WQ's. Have fun all, just an opinion, not to be taken as negative.

I have a specific problem with the occasional traps on different floors. The single ones are easy to avoid, like a swinging ax, fire pots, or the fast-moving electric beams. But at times, there are multiples of those, like three swinging axes in unison and in between fire in a row of three spurting out of the ground. I strongly vote for Blizzard to ease up on those because they have nothing to do with the actual game.
Does anyone have suggestions on how to deal with them? So far, I got killed every time when I tried to cross those.

Looks like the rotation isn't always the same as listed above.... my Shaman went in to do Soulforges and it was Fractured Chambers instead.... RIP no Raiding leggo this week

I tested logging out to the character screen and to desktop and found one result. You ARE able to leave/log from game in tor, for at least 5 min and resume. Also, my Phantasma was still there. This was a quick log within 5 min.

just a small tip, if pos, when you pick up a npc, dont hand in until you have killed that levels portal to the next floor guardian, the extra dps makes it a quick kill and then you can go back hand in get the anima power and move up a level'

It should be noted that the Tarragrue can be feared - and with the Warrior one increasing the duration by 500%, he stays feared for 45 seconds. I'm not sure if he's susceptible to other CCs.

As of 06 Jan 2021, Twisting Corridors as well as the whole of Torghast is bugged. After a minute or so of being inside, you get a Loading Screen that kicks you out at the entrance.

I am coming to comment with my complete disgust at this dungeon. This has to be the most frustrating content that I have ever played in WOW. My god, to beat your head against a wall and barely get to the end.... then to find out the boss mechanics make it unkillable because the anima upgrades you chose. WTF would any developer consider that as OK? This is just completely unacceptable content, and to make it mandatory to get our legendaries?

Like in this weeks instance, there is a level where you portal directly into the center of 5+ mobs that cannot be kited... and they are so close to each other they all agrro if you move, and then throw in elites into those mob packs just to say an extra FU. Ohh and btw, they also cause ground AOE that you must avoid, which you cannot because you cannot move or more mobs will kill you. I die in seconds of just portaling into the platform.... how is this &*!@ ok?

Either make the instance soloable, or force us to play in groups. I do not want to try doing something I feel I should be able to do, and constantly being slapped in the face for trying.

By far, the most frustrating, RNG laden experience with absolutely no draw for long term play. I am absolutely appalled by the design of this dungeon and would like it to be tossed into the void, and for the designers sent there as well to be forced to endure their own dungeon for hours on end, with horrible RNG that never gives them good upgrades.

This instance makes me furious.

This maybe a very obvious thing to state (apols if so), but don't attempt running a paricular 'wing' of Torghast at the same level more than once during the same instance. You won't get Soul Ash reward for any subsequent clears (for example) at Level 1. Once you see the status message associated with the 'wing' indicating it has been completed, that's it at whatever Level you did until it becomes available again. Not sure if running the 'wing' at a higher level during the same instance works. Logic says it should, but then this is WoW.

All right I am a solo player, I am not in a guild. But however I do like to gear up.
In the beginning of Shadowlands I was very interested in Thorghast and Soul Ash.
I was able to grind Soul Ash and saving for a Legendary. However, after getting this Legendary to maximum there's no point in getting Soul Ashes anymore unless you would like to craft a second Legendary piece. But you cannot ware 2 pieces, argh.
So I am done grinding Soul Ash.

I found a new challenge in Twisting Corridors. But there's no gear reward only for transmogrification, battle pet, mount I have read. Not interesting for me really.
But then again, it was fun. Untill now on this rainy Sunday. I just spend 2,5 hours to go up to floor 18 WITHOUT ANY PROBLEMS at all.
In floor 18 the boss (I dont recall his name but honestly I dont give a f*ck) completely whipe me over 6 times in a row without a chance at all.
I have read some comments notifying this boss is hard and you need to interrupt. However when I tried to interrupt nothing happened and after 10 seconds boss hit me ONCE (!) and it's over.
I know of course it's only a game. But wtf, this is NOT fun!
I am playing WOW a couple years and I was very impressive about the corruption system in last expansian. After a break of 2 years, I was impressed of this system and I bought again game time.
Up till now I only see disappointments in Shadowlands.
Sorry for negative comments, but I am so frustrated I needed to say this.

I love Torgahst! TY! It is so much fun! So many great things... but it's not finished.
Needed work:

The floor experience needs to match with the end boss.
-----I should have a reasonable expectation by the time I hit floor 5 if I can beat the end boss on floor 6.
it needs to be saved like an instance, especially TC.
-----Don't let data make you its' %$#@!
remove the stuff makes you have to constantly be at the screen (I.E. If you stop fighting, hounds attack you)
-----sometimes after 1 hour of playing wow have to go bio (let alone three on TC)!

Could you please update this guide with additional information on companions/followers. Some of the quests you receive will also give you a follower, as well as an anima orb and phantasma.

I am a Beast Master Hunter and want to earn Soul Cinders in Torghast. I know I have to start at level 8 and it recommends the gear level be 195 and my gear level is 208. I would think I could complete this wing but I find myself having a hard time completing level 6. How hard is it really to complete level 8? I am old which means I am a little slow so not sure if this is something I can do. Any recommendations would help (i.e. forget about it etc lol). I just know that only getting 20-30 soul cinders a week will take me months to get 1650. So maybe I don't go for legendaries? Thanks for help/input.

Okay, this may be obvious to everyone but when you decide to start farming Torghast and you want to know what wings are up, click on your map, click on the Maw, on the top right there's a skull. Hover over it and it will tell you.

I have searched, in many different words, trying to find the release order of Torghast wings. Which ones were released first? Which recently came out? I took a break after Twisting C. came out, now I come back and there's a Jailer level and seemingly 2 others, but I can't remember which I've done and which are new from 9.1-9.2. The answer to that question would be greeeeeat.
