A fun little pet. You have no control over it. You don't even get a pet bar. It acts just like a pet set to agressive.

It usually does 1 damage per attack. Every once in a while, it gets a berserk buff, increasing its attack speed and attack damage. It does about 80 damage per attack while berserked. It also rarely gives a 5-minute buff Battle Cluck to the party. I'm not sure, but I think it slightly increases melee hit chance.

It hits for 1 damage every 2 seconds.
If it enrages (does so often) it deals 40-70 damage (against a lvl70 target) every 1 second, lasts 10 seconds per enrage.

Occassionally it Battle Squawks, the entire group has +5% attackspeed for 5 minutes.

Still works in TBC, it's lvl 72 when used on lvl 70.

its lvl is determined of your engineering lvl a 375 engineering gives it a lvl of 75 with a gnome it is lvl 78 becauze their racial passive

This engineering pet has been nerfed in patch 2.4, it no longer scales with your engineering level. It is only lvl 50, and now has a 20 min cooldown. This shorter cooldown does not make up for the fact that this pet is now worthless after your character has lvled past the 50s. Totally worthless in outland, the pet will miss ALOT and only hit in the single digits when it does hit.
Thanks Blizz, for nerfing engineering once again....

Yes, they stack. Drums are 80 rating and Chicken is 5% flat haste.

Note that this pet is generally only available to Gnomish Engineers, since the recipe is taught only by Gnomish Engineering Trainers and the pet is BoP. If a Gnomish engineer created one and switched specializations to Goblin, however, it would still be usable.

I said I can do it, and only after that i crafted it for him (his mats) and placed it in the trade window did we find out it was BoP...

Wow, very nice. Patch 2.4.3 reinstated some engineering crafted trinket pets' leveling with engineering skill. This is one. At 375 engineering, it's a level 75 battle chicken.

Battle Squawk only buffs melee atk speed, not ranged. I tested it by checking my char sheet weapon speeds on both ranged and melee as I got the buff. Only melee speed changed. Sorry, hunters.

so if ive got this straight, it does 1 damage per tick, and can enrage to do 70-80 per tick which is STILL not really that amazing and has a very rare chance to do a good buff? doesnt sound worth it to me...gobbo ftw

This chicken no longer seems to give the +5% haste buff to you. I tested it today against a level 80 training dummy in IF and it never procced the haste buff once. It seems that they changed it so the chicken gives itself the buff Chicken Fury.

The chicken was level 90 when I was level 80, however, it does not do much damage. It was hitting the training dummy for 3-4 damage and crit for 6-7. Once it had the Chicken Fury buff, it hit for 70-71 damage and crit for 140-141. So not really much benefit but you can still summon it before a boss and switch to another trinket before combat starts.

As a ret paladin in ICC I equip this before the fight starts, use it, then equip my main trinket. The chicken stays out and i don't lose out on DPS.

Recount doesn't record how much damage the chicken does, so I can't report on that (though it must be something like 2k), but the 5% haste buff is huge. If you consider it as haste rating instead of percent it seems more impressive: ~150 haste rating for everyone in the group. We put all of our melee in one group, so this chicken gives 750 haste for several minutes. For people doing around 10k dps, that's a lot of extra damage.

It's a nice way of increasing DPS without any loss, unless you forget you are wearing it when combat starts.

I am considering going engineer for gloves chant, if this worked it would seal the deal, helping my melee team mates.

What is the proc chance of the haste buff?

And like Howled asked, does it stack with other chickens (that sounds so messed up)?

I quickly went through the comments and it seems that some useful info is missing, for PvP players at least :

The chicken detects stealthed rogues (or feral druids) around it !

I first got it for the fun of it... and finally kept it mainly for that reason.

Can be very useful when carrying the flag in WSG or when suspecting annoying rogues wandering around. Freaking priceless to see them running away with your chicken on their heels :D

PS : non-perfect english very much possible, being french doesn't help

I pulled this trinket out in LFR's, and to my surprise, I received the haste buff every time it was used. It could very well be RNG being RNG, but it's still nice to see the old trinket working fine.

Stacked melee groups will have even more fun, now!

Battle Squawk doesn't seem to work at level 90. It will still cast it as normal (randomly) but nobody in my group recieves the buff.
