Both Good questions that I have no immediate answer for...

Admittedly, mine was not a mission of good will. I came in search of Azsharite. A unique crystal to southern Azshara. Oh the riches I would have had!

^ This statement indicates that they did not die in that belly while writing, and that they had a possible plan for escaping. It very well could be Innkeeper Shay or another of similar naming!

I just picked this up while working on Loremaster. What I get from the note is that the Windan Shay must have been digested and then "passed."

So Azsharite is Cliff Giant poop?

SPECULATION:
It is clear that Mook who is the writer of this note came to Azshara in search of riches. He believed he could get it by finding Azsharite which is apparently unique to the southern portion of the land.

Perhaps the giants protect these crystals as they may serve some sort of purpose to them beyond being a byproduct of their digestive system. Perhaps considering what they are made of, the act of eating for them may not be for sustenance, but in fact to produce Azsharite for another means. As a source of energy perhaps, or for an unseen force or controller of the giants that requires this gem.

It may be that the giants simply do not like beings playing with and moving around their poop which upsets them. Who knows? It is fun to think about.

This item is worthless and can not be sold to a vendor. I recommend keeping it for lore or collectors sake.
