I must be the most unlucky Sob in teh world... I am 315 Herbs, and have opened 7 packets without one yield of Marrowgrain... Ive gotten kingsblood, Liferoot, Firebloom, and stranglekelp.

I remember doing this with another character without herbalism as profession, and seemed to have higher yields....

Even worse, I used all 20 packets, I hit Morrowgrain 3x, for a total of 7 pieces. I am out of seeds, and can only purchase 1 at a time for like 8s. I am going to abandon quest and see if I get another 20 to complete it.

Morrowgrain sells high on my server, about 20-30g for a stack.

I'm level 70 so I don't need anymore, so it had been sitting in my bank since I got it, about a year ago. I recently got my sisters character and she had three stacks of morrowgrain in her bank which I sold, and realized this would be easy to farm. My herbalism is maxed out at 375 so I get morrowgrain x5 about 60% of the time. Instead of buying my Un'Goro soil however, I decided to make a profit from farming it:

Un'Goro Soil can only be found in Un'Goro Crater, every day I spend about an hour running in circles around the mountains of the crater, which is where a ton of Mountain Silversage spawns, which sells about 50g a stack. I farm that while getting the Un'Goro soil, and use the Morrowgrain every ten mins. The result: about 3 stacks of mountain silversage and about 4 stacks of Morrowgrain if I'm lucky. Ergo- About 230g. Not too bad. ^_^

Hope that helps those of you farming herbalists. :P

P.S. It helps to have a mount and be high enoughto take on monsters, because unless you're 60-70, you WILL aggro a few monsters.

I agree If you have a cartography mod that shows treasure ungoro soil is very easy to farm at 65 and all the herbs are usable, I intend to keep the pack to help with alchemy on my alts and friends, I dont know if you have to turn the pack in on quest completion, I hope not, but if so I will simply not turn in the quest

I'm maxed at 375 herbalism, and from my first batch of 20 seeds, I got 39 morrowgrain, almost 2/seed. In addition I got herbs, ranging from Mountain Silversage to Kingsblood, but more of the higher level ones.

On my server, morrowgrain goes for about 1g/unit, so this is pretty profitable.

And no, the bad isn't used up.

Also, Morrowgrain is used in making Cenarion Herb Bags. As a herbalist I have these made by friendly tailors for about 2 gold each (my mats) and they sell for about 45-50 gold on my server. Morrowgrain itself is about 20-30 gold for a stack of 20. So yes, very profitable indeed.

Edit: Morrowgrain is no longer required for crafting a Cenarion Herb Bag.

The evergreen pouch does NOT have to be turned in at the end of the quest; in fact, you can buy a replacement if necessary. Although the herb bag does not sell for quite as much on my server, it's already been a money maker despite having to buy purple lotus at the AH. It's also made me a few more friends among the herbalists in my guild. The payoff is worth the occasional run through Un'goro for soil. Gatherer is a big help here. Sometimes the mobs drop soil as well.

I've tried to get morrowgrain 11 times so far and have gotten 10 earthroot and 1 sungrass for my efforts. Tis frustrating. :(

Just adding this comment in case your going for the loremaster achivement and wanna pass this Quest quick - when your in a major city just go to arena battelmaster and sign in for skirmish - it will reset the pouch - so u can actually make a lot of morrowgrain in little time. i got bored tbh even while doing that so ditched the quest

Is it just me, or does giving Morrowgrain away for rep make you into a drug dealer? I mean, they never seem to tell you what they're doing with it, a few people (mostly druids) seem to love it...

Seems to me that, as of 3.2, the morrowgrain farming thing has changed -- I get either morrowgrain or mutated morrowgrain, whether or not I'm on an herbalist, and the cooldown is now five seconds.

I feel myself really lucky completing this quest with 1 pack of seeds.

The first 15 attempts only gave Mutated Marrowgrain. Then the last 5 gave 3, 1, 1, 2, 3 Marrowgrain, giving me the required 10 in exactly 20 seeds.

I prefer the old marrowgrain research; it was a 10 minute cooldown but Marrowgrain seemed alot more common..

The former Arch Druid Fandral Staghelm was finally taken down for his corruption and his schemes involving the Un'Goro Soil and the Morrowgrain it yielded have therefore ended. There is currently no practical use for either of these items so vend what you have of them unless you have a case of Wow-hoarding. *cough cough*

Morrowgrain is still available in the game. Seeds can still be purchased from Mathrengyl Bearwalker and the Evergreen Pouch still works with Un'Goro Soil.

It was discovered that Staghelm was actually using morrowgrain to poison Malfurion during his sleep within Emerald Dream. So when you gathered him the grain, know that you were part of attempting our first druid's murder.
