Vendors just love rotting bear carcasses! In my experience, this seems to be the first vendor trash (grey) item you'll start accumulating to sell for more than one silver, and at a level where that's a decent chunk of change.

An addition: 3 silver buyout on the AH?! Ha, what idiot's buying these things?! Not enough of a markup to attribute to "laundering" money between horde and alliance characters or some similar activity...

Am I the only one who thinks it would be interesting for blizzard to implement a system where when you pick up the carcass it starts as something like "fresh bear carcass" which sells for more than the "rotting bear carcass" and then eventually turns into "rotten bear carcass" which sells for the least of the three

either our characters are strong enough to carry 200 rotting bear carcass' around the desert and not puke from the stench or just pure magic.

For those who will need 1x for the new pet coming in patch 9.1. They will notice they dont drop for max level characters or level 10 allied races. So if you dont have a lvl ~25 alt you can go to old hillsbrad dungeon and farm the item there. Those bears have locked loot tables regardless of level.

The reason to grind these are for three new pets coming in 9.01 from a vendor in Oribos. Keep in mind that these are PTR vendor items, and may or may not be implemented.

DO NOT ACCIDENTLY VENDOR THE GRAYS! Stick them in the bank until you have what you need. There are NINE vendor trash items that you need to buy all three pets:
1.) Ground Gear From Havest Collectors near Variance Keep, use or create a lvl 10 Hunter to farm these. Higher levels will NOT get the drop!
2.) Robble's Wobbly Staff ( Farm the mobs in Firelands dungeon)
3.) Very Unlucky Rock ( From bag reward sometimes from fishing daily, or 100% drop from Lucky Horace's Lucky Chest in Nazmir.

Pet two:
1.) Rotting Bear Carcass (Easily found in Escape from Durnhold Dungeon in the Caverns of Time)
2.) Dark Iron Baby Booties (Found in the Vault Chests you unlock in Blackrock Depths with Coffer keys looted from NPCs)
3.) The Stoppable Force (Looted from Steamvault NPCs)

Pet Three:
1.) The aforementioned Rabbit's Foot, from the Human Starting area Worgs.
2.) Large Slimy Bone (from the Slimes inside and outside Wailing Caverns)
3.) A Frayed Knot (looted from Scarlet Friars and Scarlet Zealots Near the Scarlet Monestary) NOTE: This may be actually the most difficult item to get, as it has to be PICKPOCKETED by a Rogue! The good thing is there is no level restriction, Rogues from Level 24 (when you learn pickpocket) to level 60 can loot this item.

Keep in mind all these items can be bought on the AH, but the price will surely go up, as the drop rates in the world have been severely nerfed!

You can get a lot of them from Escape From Durnhold... and then sell on AH because people can pay several k of gold for that xD

Engrenage abîmé : From Mimiron in Ulduar or, if you are not max level*, differents mechanicals mobs in The Geyser Fields in Toundra Boréenne.
Bâton bancal de Rouble : Trash mobs in Cataclysm instances and raids. Terres de Feu is a great spot to farm this.
Rocher très malchanceux : 100% drop in Coffre porte-bonheur de Horace le Chanceux in Nazmir but can only be loot once per caracter OR 5% from Troglodyte de Chutelune and Troglodyte givre-profond in the Garrison.

Ver d’apparat en turquoise : Sold for one of each junk item below :

Carcasse pourrie d'ours : From Ours gris vicieux in Contreforts de Hautebrande d’antan instance or, if you are not max level*, bears around Azeroth.
Petit butin sombrefer : Relatively low drop rate from Coffret à relique inside Profondeurs de Rochenoire. There are a total of 12 locked boxes in the instance, which will require each 1 Clé de coffret à relique to open.
La Force résistible : Low drop rate from trash mobs in Burning Crusade instances and raids.

* Because of scaling issues, can only be loot at certain level brackets and only through Chromie Time.

All grey items can be bought or sold at the auction house, and be sure to disable any addons that automatically sell trash items at a vendor.

literally got one off my first kill in Old Hilsbrad as soon as I exited right next to Brazen & Erozion. Pretty easy.

Ok, I went to a whole bunch of different areas looking for these, and didn't get any at all.
However, I went into the Old Hillsbrad Foothills dungeon like someone else suggested and got 4 in like 5 minutes.

I'm guessing loot tables have changed. I've been farming bears in Felwood and Winterspring for hours and haven't received a single one of these despite it supposedly being an ~80% drop rate. Even killed a couple rares and didn't drop from them either. I even got a blue world drop while farming for one of these. It's a gray trash item, man. Starting to think this item doesn't exist anymore lol.

Edit: Someone said to check the bears in the Escape From Durnholde dungeon and of course I got one first try. Don't waste your time farming bears in Felwood and Winterspring lol... just take the portal to Caverns of Time, enter the Old Hillsbrad Foothills instance, and start killing bears.

I don't think these drop rates are very accurate. I've killed dozens of Angerclaw Maulers without getting the drop. Seems like a 78% drop rate would have happened at this point.

No need to farm this on a low level toon. I just picked up two in Old Hillsbarad Foothills dungeon at max level. I'm on Heroic but have no idea if the difficulty matters.
