Beware: While you can "use" the item at Level 90, you must be level 92 to equip the created trinket. Granted, most players will be level 92 by the time they have followers at Level 98, but it is somewhat odd/annoying that the level requirements don't match.

Note that there is only 1 trinket for pure DPS classes. Tank/DPS and Heal/DPS classes will need to set their loot role... otherwise you wind up with 2 identical and they are unique-equipped. Which is too bad.

Note that while the created trinket is unique-equipped, each role-version of it counts as a separate item. That won't help you if you're a mage, hunter, rogue or warlock, but everyone else has the option of creating and using two Tormented Trinkets. Just right click your portrait and set the desired loot specialization. Remember to set it back after creating it.

The healing trinkets come with passive spirit and the tanking trinkets come with passive armor, so this trick is not particularly useful for a DPS spec, but having offspec gear never hurts and the DPS trinkets are all quite useful to a tank or healer.

For those that still do WoD content, if you get Bijou tourmenté and just want to sell it, using the item to create legs will get you less money than the 5g that the item itself is worth.
