I think this ring is good for every class except Warrior and Rogue at this level. The 2 Agility doesn't make this a good choice for warriors/rogues because they can get another ring better than this at lvl 17.

imo this is the best "twink" ring for a caster. with the intellect i think it's better than the ring from bg's. and u get xp while farming for it :)

They shouldn't have changed this ring because the old ring is good for Twink hunters, now i'm not sure what ring to use. There aren't many rings that provide mana and an extra % chance to crit

Oh suck it up cupcake, nearly every other weapon in Deadmines has had a buff to it, this was meant for casters from day 1, if you are feeling so terribly wronged, get a pure +agil ring or one of the many other weapons in the instance that have been buffed.... "+6 intel, and +2 agil for a hunter..."

EDIT: Yeah give it to any mana user now - my priest has 25% wand crit because what used to be spell crit now applies to melee and ranged as well.

As of patch 2.3 the agility turns to spell hit rating so its more viable for a caster.
and if a hunter or warrior or rogue needs this, boots them

i have faith that not a single hunter / warrior / rogue would roll on this ring anymore. it would take someone of incredible stupidity to roll on this ring if they were playing one of fore-mentioned classes. And if they were going to roll on this ring you probably wouldn't even make it to gilnid, because their inane stupidity would cause so many wipes the group would fall apart.

With Hit working for melee and magic, this ring compliments any Mana using class.

http://www.wowhead.com/?item=24120 is the next best upgrade for this ring. so very well speaking this ring will last you 10 levels.

Edit: Also, it should go without saying that this ring is the best lv 19 caster twink ring.

It's amusing how this ring has evolved over the ages.

At first it had a huge 6 intellect bonus, but also had a 2 agility bonus as well which made this ring useful for all classes.

The ring most arguably at that time favoured hunters or possibly feral druids since they were the only class that used mana as well as received both attack power and critical strike bonuses from agility. Then on the other hand, many casters felt that the amount of intellect increased their critical strike rating enough to justify giving them priority for the ring. Then of course there were selfish rogues, warriors, and such who wanted the ring even though the 2 agility alone was easily replaced.

Then with Patch 2.3 the bickering came to an end when Blizzard clearly labled it as a caster ring by removing the agility and giving spell hit rating instead, all was well.

Then came Patch 3.0, spell hit rating and hit rating merged into being the same stat, affecting all classes and abilities. This ended up reverting the ring back into it's much bickered over state, all classes benefit a lot from the hit rating, so any class could lay claim to it and be justified. Though casters retain the highest benefit from the ring since 2 points of hit rating increases spell hit chance a moderate amount more than with physical attacks.

In Patch 4.0 the ring will be change to as follows:

Binds when picked up
Unique-Equipped
Finger
+6 Intellect
Classes: Death Knight
Requires Level 17
Item Level 22
Equip: Improves hit rating by 2

Just for the Record. Count is 11446 out of 93655.

Edited 2: After 3 more days i saw one, that was needed (and won) by a warrior, while the 4 casters in the party despaired :(

Got this drop yesterday. First time done deadmines, did it with just me and 2 level 20 mates of mine, warlock, rogue and im an arcane mage.

I got the ring :-)

This used to be a hunter ring, indeed(i would honestly be pissed if a mage took it)
2 agil and 6 intellect was the best hunter ring with Protectors band or seal of wrynn
2 agil-4 rap, 6 intel-6 rap, max damage ring a 19 hunter would get

Now, it is a purely a caster ring. Nice stats indeed, many caster items dont have alot of +hit on them, and it is much harder to hit with spells then melee attacks
