You get the same thing if you actually combine 2 of them before expiring. They can be traded but not mailed and yes, in the end, they're only good for vendoring.

So, the only difference is that you get twice as many merchant orders than you normally get after letting them expire.

Having a follower with the Calligraphie trait at your Étude de scribe Niveau 2 awards you the option of creating a Commande marchande de Draenor ONCE a day. To do this, you must speak with your assigned, Inscription follower who will give you a chance to create a full Commande marchande de Draenor using:

Pigment céruléen x 4
Parchemin léger x 2

Doing so will award you with two Reçu partiel (aléatoire):

If luck grants you 2 "identical partial receipts", you can immediately combine them to create one of three possible Merchant Orders:
Since the two partial receipts you will receive are random, you may not get 2 "identical partial receipts".
If that is the case, you will have to wait until daily reset to make another set (again, using your assigned follower).
You may also mail, trade, or auction them.

The point of these Merchant Orders is simply a way to make gold if you have spare Pigment céruléen.

With the removal of an expiration, the receipts that combine to make this item can now be put on the AH. I always store mine in the AH for 75 to 150g buyouts until I get 2 and then I combine them.

If I find any in the AH for less then 70g or so I buy them. Anecdotally it seems to be approximately 90% chance to yield the normal 75g version, 5% chance for 25g small version, and 5% chance for 225g large version. I do them every day but did not collect the exact numbers to give a real analysis so take this with a grain of salt.
