Did this with a druid tank and myself at level 95. They only dropped one toy, between the two of us. It's 3 level 100 mobs, one of them does a heal (name starts with a V). Respawn rate does not seem to be fast like the other rares, as we have been waiting upwards of 10 minutes with no respawn.

Talents needed: Repentance, Sanctified Wrath

I repentance Basten (caster DPS) and I burst the healer (Valstil) down, with the healer and the melee DPS beating on me it is imperative for me to be able to burst the healer within 3 of his heals, all 3 which I interrupt starting with Rebuke -> Hammer of Justice -> Rebuke again, he needs to die before the fourth cast as I have nothing to interrupt him with.

After he dies, it's pretty much smooth sailing, if I'm about to die I would either just bubble or lay on hands and start wailing on the melee DPS. Make sure to re-apply CC on Basten! Melee DPS will die and then I'll just heal up and prepare to down Basten.

Also, with this kill order (have done it 4 times) I have yet to see the toy drop, not sure if kill order matters, I may just have really poor luck.

EDIT: Been at his spawn point since maintenance happened on 11/15/2014, haven't seen him spawn since.

EDIT again: 11/19/2014, found him so perhaps his spawn has been fixed, decided to try out the whole Shredder thing... completely trivialized the fight. They are now properly dropping items, received 1 primal spirit, Grovetender's Cummerbund, and some trash items.

Apparently you can only receive loot from them once a week?

Final update as of 11/26/2014, it seems you become lootlocked to the rare upon killing it which will reset the next week, pretty low drop rate but after about 7 total kills (only including when they still appeared as a rare to the character) the toy finally dropped for me.

If you have access to Invocation du méca-déchiqueteur 5000 soloing these guys becomes a walk in the park. Position yourself so you hit all three with the frontal cone AoE, and by the time your shredder dies there should be only one left alive, if that.

The toy definitely seems not to be a 100% drop, alas. Not even if you're soloing. With how annoying they are to kill, you'd think it'd be guaranteed... :(

Just dropped for me in today's first kill after approximately 7 kills. As far as i know, Basten will spawn only the days when Everbloom Wilds daily quest is available for either Horde or Alliance along with some other rares, but i can also be wrong.

I camped for this guy quite a bit and only saw him once when the botani apex daily was not active. During the botani apex daily i killed him on my main and came back on an alt in the same realm less then 30 minutes later and he had respawned already. In all i killed him 3 times to get the toy.

His spawn seems to be roughly 2-3 hours, spawns everyday, regardless of the daily. The toy isn't 100% drop i've killed him 14 times and no toy. Killing the trio isn't difficult with the shredder. He can be killed once a day with a chance at the toy.

Camouflage botani has a chance to drop from the Protectors of the Grove (Basten, Nultra and Valstil) which are found in the Everbloom Wilds area in Gorgrond and is one of 8 flavor items that drop from the Draenor daily rare mobs (rares that have a chance to drop loot once per day).

The item doesn't bother to tell you that you will be "stunned" for the entire 5 minute duration - you cannot move, act or do anything at all while shapeshifted....

Would have been nice for Blizzard to mention that before people spent hours camping it.

These guys are pushovers if you have a 10 stack of the Mutagen buff.

See the Vert de rage achievement for details, but killing Gardien perverti and Mutant ensorcelé creates a green puddle that when you stand in it you take damage and get a stacking debuff that increases stats by 5%. This debuff stacks to 10 and w/ +50% stats, this becomes a very easy fight.

Been killing Basten for 2 weeks straight on 4 characters and the toy still hasn't dropped.
I knew going into it that it wasn't 100%, but I highly doubt it's even the approximate 14-15% seen on WoWhead.
I'd say it's probably more around 2-6% drop rate.
edit: Took another 20 runs but it finally dropped.

This toy is a very low drop rate. I have killed this boss at least 50 times over the last 6 months and it never dropped until today. Don't give up faith! Use alts if you can. It makes it less grindy

I think this should be made into a disguise. For now i'm using my Camouflage botani then getting someone to mirror me with Moire ciel d'Ai Li then i mirror them so that i can run around as groot

I got this toy after killing the rare 12 times which is a 8.3% drop chance for me personally. The average respawn for me was 47 minutes. The longest I waited for spawn was 60min and shortest I waited was 30min.
