A good place (for alliance) to farm theses is Eleks southeast of Elodar.

Just remember to take off any damaging passives (such as lightning shield/legend cape).

To farm these, the easiest clefthoof I have found so far are the Sabot-fourchu laineux located in the Bladespire ravine - just southwest of Bladespire Fortress in the Frostfire Ridge zone.

HORDE: The easiest way to farm Clefthoofs for the Leather (for the work orders) is to take the Flightpath from your Garrison to The Ring of Trails in Nagrand. Shortest flight and plenty of Clefthoofs. Look for the red/enemy ones.

Place the trap, aggro one with a ranged spell/taunt and when he starts to cast Gore, take a few steps back; when he's done casting step forward again so he stays in the trap. You NEED to damage it just below 60/50% percent before the trap closes. You know that is trapped when some NPC shows up. Stop dps, it will disappear anyway. No skinning that one tho :(

Frostfire farm place : Outside Throm 'Var. Straight outside are 3 clefthoofs, around the mountians are a couple more.

As of the evening of 12/15, these now stack in stacks of 20.
Eight hours ago, when I was online, they did not stack. What a surprise when I "cleaned" my bags just now and they all stacked!

Placing a work order with Bête à cuir en cage will give you 8 Peau de bête brute or 12 Peau de bête brute with a level 100 follower.
Crin-d’Or l’Ecorcheur Is probably the easiest follower to get for your Barn if you are in need of one.

I get them when I do one of my Écuries Niveau 2 quests to kill Flagelleur-de-bête gorien. He is surrounded by (next to) a herd of Sabot-fourchu dompté .

To trap an animal, you must bring their health down to 50% or less. If you are high dps, have a pet, bodyguard, or trinket proc ... they will usually die before getting trapped. When you place the Piège de Fer , it will sit for a second as it opens. It will not trap an animal during this period. Once it is opened, the damaged animal must walk over it.

I use the macro below to keep from killing them before they are trapped. Bring them to 50% then use the Piège de Fer macro (below).

You trap animals (listed on the trap) to get one of the Caged Beast listed below. You then turn them in to the ~~<Barn Supervisor>~~<Work Orders> either Homer Champierreux or Fermier Lok'lub. Depending on the type of Caged Beast you bring him, he will offer to start a workorder for:

Clefthoof or Elekk = Bête à cuir en cage workorder produces 8 x Peau de bête brute

Talbuk or Wolf = Bête velue en cage workorder produces 8 x Fourrure somptueuse

Riverbeat or Boar = Bête charnue en cage workorder produces 1 x Festin sauvage

(Bête à cuir en cage Bête velue en cage Bête charnue en cage - MAY BE IN YOUR BANK to start the work order with them. They fit in the Reagents tab.)

With a LEVEL 100 follower working in your Barn (with the Dépeçage trait), instead of 8 you will produce 12, or instead of 1 occasionally you will get 2. Followers of lower level do not produce as much additional (stated in the tool tip Dépeçage).

Those of you that chose a Brewery for your Spires of Arak garrison, will have acquired Hulda Shadowblade at the end of your questline for the zone. Those that did not acquire Hulda Shadowblade, will probably need to find Crin-d’Or l’Ecorcheur. When you free him you get Amitié féline which rewards Sujet : Crin-d’Or l’Ecorcheur.

Bête à cuir en cage,Bête velue en cage, and Bête charnue en cage will always give the yield shown above, regardless the level of the animal you trap. A level 90 Clefthoof will give the same production from a work order as a level 100 Clefthoof.

Sabot-fourchu puissant en cage, Loup puissant en cage, and Potamodonte puissant en cage will give 15/22 instead of 8/12 (without follower/with follower) and have the possibility of Sang sauvage.

TRAP MACRO

Instead of Piège de Fer mine is now Piège de Fer amélioré or Piège de Fer mortel. (Everywhere in the macro where it says, "Iron Trap", I have added "Improved" so that now it says, "Improved Iron Trap" -- or "Deadly" and "Deadly Iron Trap".)

Type /macro into the chat window and your Macro Frame will open. There are two tabs at the top, General Macros and <CharacterName> Specific Macros. Click on the Character Specific tab and then find and click the New Button (bottom about center). A side window will open with a lot of icons, and the Red Question Mark icon selected. Leave the Red Question Mark icon as the icon selection and type in any name even a blank space will do in the top text area of the side window. So that I know it is a macro, I always give it some name even an X at times. I named this one TRAP.

Now click the Okay button and that side frame will close. Click on the large black text area to position your cursor into the text field, it should automatically be in the top left corner. Now copy and past the commands below into the window ... just as they are typed:

The first command makes the Red Question Mark icon turn into the Piège de Fer icon.
Next is the command that stops your Attaque auto.
Next will put your pet on passive followed by the command to put your pet on follow.

All attacking has been stopped and the last act is to drop the Piège de Fer.

Press the save button and the macro with the name you gave it and the Piège de Fer icon will be there in your macro frame. Now you just drag it to an action bar (as you would any spell) and go test it out. And now you have made your first macro and have a bit of an understanding, you can go to:

I am sure that this is not very helpful at all for people at this point in the game but 1000 of the caged beasts will last you around 5 months.

Also, if you want to only trap one NPC wait for them to make their special ability and trap them mid cast. You can instantly hit the trap again, the NPC will do his cast again and it will interupt it and you will trap the same beast over again. It works nice on the goats and their charge.

As of Battle for Azeroth (Patch 8.2) I can confirm that Epée en mousse souple works to wound all but the largest beasts in Nagrand for trapping. It has a cast time, so sometimes aggroing a beast with a non-damaging effect (an interrupt or other cc) can be useful to position the beast over the trap.

Epée en mousse souple can be purchased from various Toy vendors in Orgrimmar, Stormwind, or Dalaran such as Jepetto Mizanjoie.
