If at anytime after you've completed the chain leading up to killing the chief you lost your book (or destroyed it like mine) by accident, Simply go to Donova Snowden abandon quest and grab a new quest and book.

Fairly sure this quest has been removed. If you look, Wowhead lists the Firewater quest as having been removed and this quest was linked to it.

This item still exists and starts it's quest, but it drops only when you have got High Chief Winterfall quest.

If you deleted the book don't panic. Just abandon the quest and go to Donova Snowden. She'll have a quest available that gives you the book and the quest.

You no longer need to be on the quest to kill him and loot the book.

The quest may be a prerequisite however, but I have completed the quest and just went back to kill him again seeking the book. Dropped first time
