I have mental health issues, obviously. I was determined to get tier 3 dreamleaf today, even though who really needs dream leaf. Laps and Laps around Shala'Nir thicket or whatever that pink area is called, 2 Heroic runs of DHT, 1 Mythic run of DHT. 1452 dreamleaf in my bag, 825 Ysera seeds, the majority of which came from gathering from corpses and this Blight-Choked herb finally dropped. I can't tell you what dropped it, i had a pile of Desecrated Ancient, Defilied Grovewalker and Vilepetal Rooter around me. Good luck, you will absolutely need it.

As I am also determined to get this level 3 pattern because who needs dreamleaf anyway. I have set up at: 59,9, 35.8 @Shala'nir. I have got stacks of dreamleaf and seeds and still no Blight-Choked Herb. I'll keep at it though. 10/27/16.

Do you need to be max herbalism for this item to drop? Been at it for almost 5 hours with over 600 mobs killed, (all being able to be gathered). I'm herbalism 796 with Rank 2 Dreamleaf.

It took a long time, but I just kept on killing everything that could be herb skinned outside of Darkheart Thicket. I probably skinned a hundred or so before I got it. Ugh.

It took me about 3000 dreamleaf worth of herbs to get this. Best bet is Shal'anir (the area outside Darkheart Thicket) during the world quest.

I started the grind at Shala'nir to get this herb. It was my second attempt looking for it after my first one hour grind during patch 7.1.5. It is a good spot to get it because I acquired it within the first ten minutes by killing mobs and breaking them down to herb. From my guess it has to be a nightmare invested herb to appear. I also believe it may become more likely to drop when 7.2.5 drops. Why would Blizz let you get rank 3 on everything in the first few patches? They strand out the content to keep you playing DUH. I see through their ruse.

My favorite spot is 59.7, 39. Almost all mobs around this area are herb-able. I barely had to kill anything that wasn't a herb-able mob. This area didn't have a lot of people in it either, so there wasn't so much competition with someone trying to tag my mobs and herb my corpses!

Dropped for me from a Dreamleaf herb node in Val'sharah while I was doing a farm run. A Nightmare Creeper spawned from it as well, so I assume it's only the red tinged dreamleaves that can drop it.

Most likely removed from the game as of 7.3. It's been 4 hours, I've farmed over 5000 herbs, still no rank 3.

If you're thinking of farming this, don't.

With the "increased" chance of getting rank 3 in the 7.3 patch, here are the numbers of herbs (not nodes) I had to gather using Server Hop and the location I used to get rank 3 for each one.

Aethril: 2200
Location: 66,47

Dreamleaf: 1000
Location: Area in front of DHT - killed Vilepetal Rooter, Desecrated Ancient, and Defiled Grovewalks and herbed their corpses

Foxflower: 100
Location: 43.7, 7.2

Fjarnskaggl: 730
Location: 46.6, 31.7

Starlight: 5 (yes, it only took a few gathers to get rank 3)
Location: 26.1, 23.4

It took a while (800-1000 Dreamleaf looted), but I got it from "skinning" a Vilepetal Rooter in Shala'nir.

Got it from "herbing" the corpse of a Defiled Grovewalker near the temple of elune which are not currently listed on the "gathered from npc" tab.

you can get this Herbe étouffée par le chancre from herbing , killing mobs (flowers) outside or inside the Darkheart Thicket Dungeon.But it need little patiance.

As of 2022, Shadowlands Patch 9.1.5, the comments are still correct.
I've got it from a Vilepetal Rooter, killing & gathering Vilepetal Rooters, Defiled Grovewalkers, Desecrated Ancients outside of Darkheart Thicket.

Collected at Thas'talah Basin after a few hours of camping the emerald nightmare area and general zone farming, (/way 46, 72) . This has a super low drop rate so prepare to be at this a little while.
