After getting this item tonight in my raid I have found it to be a bit meh it's nice if you need a upgrade but it doesn't add that much overall damage for you.

On a single target it will hit 16 times in it's duration for a total of 428464 damage and I only got it to proc once every minute or so.

Just did a quick test for you guys to show just how good this trinket really is.

I did 3 dps tests for each trinket with 1 minute timer on each.

Be careful trusting sims for this trinket, it seems to be far better than they indicate!

I ran several tests last night and over the course of a five minute fight the trinket was doing around 11-12k DPS consistently. When simming it was doing around 3.5k DPS

Got this from LFR, warforged (840), on my 827 ilvl arm warrior.

Tested it out on severals instances, the dps from the proc is ranging from 7% to 12% depending on the encounter.

The tentacle's horrific slam hit from 17k to 37k, and from 34 to 78k on crit, with an average of ~25% crit.

This trinket did 4mil damage in a 5min fight. It's as good as 2 Potion of the old war. Don't overlook it because of it's mastery, it's a very deceptive trinket.

For warriors and probably for other classes too, if you see the proc and you use Battle cry they will crit, same with Colossus Smash its going to do better damage as your mastery goes up, so i wouldnt pay too much atention to sims or ranks

Silly glitch bug, in Xavius fight in emerald nightmare, if your tentacles proc when you are about to enter the dream, your body will remain in the ground with the tentacles atacking, and your spirit form tentacles will also atack doing double damage for their duration

Decent trinket for enhancement since the tentacles can proc stormbringer and mastery being the best secondary stat.

I would call this best-in-slot for enhancement shamans, personally.

First off, as people have noted already, it can proc Stormbringer, which is huge. By itself, that effectively triples the uptime for Stormstrike, which is a big DPS boost.

Second of all, though, bear in mind Wind Strikes, the artifact ability in Doomhammer that increases your attack speed by 10% per rank (up to 60%) for 3 seconds after every Stormbringer proc.

Third and finally, unless I'm misreading things, not only can tentacles proc our other BiS trinket, Six-Feather Fan, but the attack speed buff will result in even more extra SFF procs.

tl;dr: sounds like this thing is super stronk for Enhancement, and even better with other things that are super stronk for Enhancement. Dunno about other classes so much.

Edit: after some consideration but almost no math, because it's early and I don't feel like it, it occurred to me that it would only triple the uptime for Stormstrike while active, and I was seeing a roughly 20% uptime. So that's only a 60% increase to Stormstrike uptime overall, though for burst DPS the boost could be much more significant.

THAT SAID, a 60% boost to Stormstrike uptime is still pretty enormous. And that's without factoring in Wind Strikes or other trinkets that it might proc.

Wound up with this out of LFR, Warforged to 845. On my ilevel 848 Ret Paladin, this trinket was responsible for 5.9% to 6.1% of my 205k DPS. For comparison, autoattack was 6.7% of my DPS, and Greater Blessing of Might was 3.5% during the same test.

This was during a 10 minute run against the Raid training dummy in the Paladin class hall, which is unfortunately located so it's impossible to avoid doing some DPS to the neighboring Dungeon dummy. More parsing will need to be done, but it seems... OK. There's the issue of DPS loss from not being within melee range the full 12 seconds every time this procs, so ~6% DPS for me is a very optimistic number.

I've given two of these away to Death Knights (on my paladin). (both of them were very quick to ask me for it).

One was 850 from Normal, and another was a Titanforged 855 from LFR. The LFR guy couldn't believe I would just give it to him.

Mastery is pretty crappy on ret paladins.

Warning: this trinket can and will attack wild battle pets and kill them before you can battle them. If you're fighting with this trinket on to engage a pet, pull enemies away from the area before attacking, and wait for the buff to fall off/manually cancel it before approaching any pets.

So, to those who say that this trinket is great for Enhancement Shaman... it's not. It's actually pretty bad.

I got this yesterday and was pretty excited. I then tested it today against a training dummy. My shiny new ilvl 865 Spontaneous Appendages were a 12k DPS loss compared to my old ilvl 855, socketed Nightmare Thorn (1292 Agi, 950 Haste, 150 Mastery gem).

I tried them out over two separate 2-min tests for each trinket, and the results were pretty consistent: roughly 310k DPS with my old trinket, vs. 298k DPS with the Spontaneous Appendages that had 10 more ilvl. Simcraft agrees, by the way- simulations with Spontaneous Appendages yielded lower DPS.

When Icy Veins says Spontaneous Appendages is Best-in-Slot for Enhancement, that's because they're comparing ilvl 880 trinkets from Mythic Emerald Nightmare to ilvl 840 trinkets from Mythic Dungeons- with a 40 ilvl lead, even the awful Emerald Nightmare DPS trinkets will pull ahead. Yes, Spontaneous Appendages will make Stormbringer proc more often. No, that does not make up for the DPS loss from not having Agility on one of your trinket slots- not even close.

This trinket has been nerfed.

The RRPM in the past was +/- 1.3, now it's 0.7 + haste.
This means that this trinket is not a BiS trinket anymore for enhancement shamans.

You should replace this with Oeil de commandement or Urne éthérée until Nighthold is available.
When NH is available, you should find the BiS trinkets for that tier of content in the guides of Wowhead.

Good luck on your dps-depraved journey, fellow enhancement shamans (or should I call you benchment shamans?)

i found a relinquished 910 version of this and in single target bosses as unholy dk it does around 9-10% of my total damage. impressive.

On Feral Druids the appendages cross over to make an X shape.

Tested as frost dk, it does not procc Killing machine, it does however benefit from 5 stacks of razorice (20% extra weapon damage as frost when at 5 stacks)
