The Feathered Viper in Rootway of Zuldazar drop the Feathered Serpent Scale. And the turn in, mysterious trash pile, for this is southwest of Nesingwary's Gameland in Rootway behind a tree opposite side of road from Feathered Viper.

Feathered Serpent Scale is part of the Maléficié, mal au fessier.
Drops from Vipère à plumes in Zuldazar Rootway .
After you loot this item you need to go to 62.73 20.58 and find Mysterious Trashpile west of Nesingwary's Trek, above letter T of "Tal'gurub" on the map.
Use Mysterious Trashpile and you will be ported to Jani world, speak with jani, turn in the item and receive the reward treasure chest.
When you loot this item you hear: A Guttural Voice whispers: What is it you have there, richmon? A shiny trinket for ol' Jani? Bring it closer...

Not sure if happens to everyone. But since I had the Feathered item in my inventory, when I got close to the trash pile, a yellow dot showed up on my mini map.

stupid me... i had killed a huge group of these guys doing the rootway objective and ended up with 3 scales on one pull. for some reason i just REALLY wanted to skin them all, so i destroyed the one i picked up. well, once i did that, the other two had disappeared from the loot table AND i could not skin them. d'oh! i killed another 150 or so before i gave up and did an item restoration. took about a minute to fill it out and get the thing back.

This may only be useful to a few people, but for some reason my cursor coordinates don't match my player coordinates in Zuldazar. It's probably an addon I have causing the issue, but Jani may be located at cursor coordinates (62, 24) instead of (62, 20) for some.

If you are having issues getting the Écaille de vipère à plumes for your quest, be *sure* you are killing the Feathered Vipers in and around the Rootway. The ones well outside of that do not seem to drop the scales (or at least not with any sort of frequency). This is the one item I had a lot of difficulty finding until I moved to make sure I was killing the serpents in and around the Mysterious Trashpile area.

Specific coordinates 62.70 / 20.58 Located on top of the cliff, behind a tree near some Feathered Viper nests.

Well, maybe the spot is moving or different now? For me it is waypoint 62/19 (very exactly!) between trees on a middle level of the small mountain there. It is hard to see if you don't know where it is.

If you're certain you've checked your bank for this but can't find it and cannot get the item to drop, go back to your bank and check again. It blends in well with the background of your bank slots and is so easy to miss! You have to search for this insufferable thing very carefully.
