These are part of your weekly quest that awards rep . This can be started with a short questline . Players may come across lesser benethic arcanocrystal from opening treasures. If a player receives this item, they will be directed to a cave in Azshari Terrace at (60,32) called Mardivas's Laboratory. Upon turning in the quest, players can then pick up a quest where they must defeat an elemental amalgamation. Once the amalgamation has been defeated, players can then pick up the quest the laboratory of mardivas where they must empower either a lesser Arcanocrystal, greater Arcanocrystal, or both and then defeat an enemy .

Managed to drop 9 of these "strange" items to turn on the day of patch release. ONE can be turned in a week, for a reward of FIVE pearls.

In addition to the once a week summoning in the Laboratory, all of the Arcane Reagents are barter items at vendors later on (rep gated) to upgrade Essences, the one's I've seen are 20x of any given one. For those thinking there are so many and they can't possibly be used - hold on to them.

Edit: I'm not sure this is correct, I heard it second hand and I have yet to see any such purchase, it was likely confused with Mrrl and the essence from manapearls. These items are used in different combinations (there are three total, the water, fire, and dust) to spawn one of 13 different weekly kill targets for Destruction périodique, an achievement in Mardivas's Laboratory in Nazjatar.

so i have 6 of these and 6 of the other two combined... finally make my way to the cave, try clicking everything, anything, looking for something to interact with anywhere, and there's nothing. cool

It is important to note these are likely to not be available the week you open the lab, the lab provides you with your first weekly quest. They should be available after.

I was very confused about how this whole system worked until I found Neryssa’s comment.

TLDR: If you've already completed Le laboratoire de Mardivas for the week, you won't be able to use the Arcane Reagents to do anything inside Mad Mardivas's Laboratory.

Longer explanation: once you have unlocked Mad Mardivas’s Laboratory, you will find a weekly quest (Le laboratoire de Mardivas). If you just do the quest in its most straightforward form, you will spawn Amalgame arcanique. However, if you wish, you may use Arcane Reagents (Eau minéralisée étrange, Pierre volcanique étrange, Sédiment océanique étrange) to empower either one Lesser Arcanocrystal OR one Lesser Arcanocrystal and one Greater Arcanocrystal. Different mobs will spawn depending on which Arcanocrystal(s) you empower, and different mobs can drop different loot. Defeating the mob spawned by every possible combination is the point of the achievement Destruction périodique. (Incidentally, this will take a minimum of 13 weeks to complete, but some of these mobs are rather hard to kill if the comments on their individual Wowhead pages are to be believed.)

One other tip: Arcane Reagents are not soulbound, so keep them all on your bank alt until you're ready to use one or two on reset day.

This achievement is a part of the meta Usurpateur des mers. You use need the below items in conjunction with crystals to spawn the below mobs using the following combinations.

Coordinates to the cave are: /way Nazjatar 60.31 30.52 Mardivas's Laboratory

The mobs for Le laboratoire de Mardivas seem to drop ~2-3 Perle de mana prismatique and the final quest turn in giving 5 Perle de mana prismatique. If you are unsure if you have done it this week you can copy and paste this into your chat log. If "true" is returned it has been completed. If it states "false" then the quest hasn't been done. /script print(IsQuestFlaggedCompleted(55121))
